Big Ten Network is seeking an Associate Producer to join its production team in Chicago. The Associate Producer will be responsible for producing highlights, gathering and editing video and sound content, and assisting producers and on-air talent with daily tasks for all studio shows. The Associate Producer will also have a strong emphasis on graphics producing, where you will be tasked with creating and populating graphics for a dynamic studio set and supporting studio shows. Other duties will include generating segment and show ideas while working collaboratively with on-air talent, production, and technical staffs on content and presentation. The Associate Producer will work on sports including, but not limited to, football, men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, wrestling, hockey, baseball, softball, and lacrosse. You will work on studio programming that includes pre and postgame coverage, nightly recap shows, and daily discussion-based talk shows. In addition, you will understand how to bring creative ideas to life as engaging content that are grounded in strong news judgment and a great understanding of collegiate sports knowledge. The Associate Producer will report to the Coordinating Producer of Studio Production and will collaborate with others within the department.A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIESPrepare and edit video content for air, including highlights, sound, voiceovers, opens, bumps and montages.Produce game highlights by selecting key plays, working with editors, and writing shot sheets for on-air talent to read during live studio shows.Research statistics to create and organize graphics for studio shows, including but not limited to subject and talent names, topic bars, lower 3rd and full screen scores, and gathering social media content for on-air use.Create monitors and set on-camera layout for new and dynamic studio set.Collaborate with show producers to generate segment and show ideas.Know key storylines of Big Ten games each day you are working.Be knowledgeable on current Big Ten teams and players while being prepared to react to breaking news coverage.Occasionally field produce at practices, games, or events throughout the Big Ten Conference.Liaise with other departments involved in production, including technical operations, edit group, design, digital, and sales teams.WHAT YOU WILL NEED3+ years of studio production work experience with at least some prior experience in graphics producing.Strong organizational and project management skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.Ability to adapt to changes easily, flexible schedule, and possess a strong attention to detail.Ability to think strategically and creatively, with strong knowledge and passion for collegiate sports and media industry.Knowledge of the Big Ten Conference and the sports we cover.Self-motivated and able to have conversations with multiple levels of personnel.Computer literate in Microsoft Office, iNews, Viz, Grass Valley, and Stratus or similar programs.NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKERBachelor’s degree in communications, broadcasting, or a related field.Basic understanding of remote television production.
