JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Communications Manager will create and manage strategic communication campaigns for the Advanced Data Solutions (ADS) Center, NORC's research technology group, and work directly with the senior director of communications and ADS senior leadership on communication initiatives.The senior communications manager is an experienced communications professional who reports to the Senior Director of Strategic Communications. The person in this role will lead and manage their own projects, in addition to supporting the communications and Advanced Data Solutions team members. This role requires experience in communications, marketing, and a high-level understanding of research and its importance in the world.DEPARTMENT: Strategic Communications and Advanced Data Solutions

Strategic Communications and External Affairs supports the entire NORC organization with expertise in corporate communications and creative services, external affairs, internal communications, digital communications, events management, marketing, writing, and select project-level communications.The ADS Center provides thoughtful, outcome-driven, flexible services that facilitate secure data research and collaboration. We also offer purpose-built data products and the credibility of an industry leader with nearly two decades of experience managing sensitive and confidential data. Our multi-disciplinary team works with government and commercial clients to create solutions that maximize the analytic utility and useful life of their sensitive data assets while ensuring confidentiality and researcher convenience. We do this by leveraging proven platforms like our NORC Data Enclave® to securely manage, link, and share analysis-ready data products that help answer the world's pressing research challengesRESPONSIBILITIES:

Source, write, proofread, edit, and post content for a variety of internal and external communications channels under the general supervision of senior staff, including new business proposals, final reports, project briefs, client outreach, data visualizations, digital content, organization collateral materials, etc.Plan, implement, and evaluate ADS communications initiatives, projects, and promotions, while playing an active role managing timelines, budgets, and contentCollaborate with internal and external stakeholders and content producers across NORC to create original content and edit existing content to enhance messaging and engage target audiencesDevelop and own communications project tracker, monitoring and analyzing tactical efforts against strategic objectives and goalsIdentify and recommend improvements to ADS and client communication methods and messages based on best practices in strategic communicationsWork closely with communications colleagues and stakeholders throughout the organization as needed and appropriatePerform other duties as assigned

Bachelor's degree is required.At least seven (7) years communications and/or marketing or relevant experience.Sr Skills required:

Strong project management; department and corporate leadership skills. Must have outstanding written and verbal communications skills. Leveraging Microsoft and Adobe programs for reporting, analysis, and project support.Abilities required:

Ability to manage multiple tasks with solid performance/results, including ability to effectively manage a team and third-party vendors; ability to be a team player; ability to work effectively with multiple departments, stakeholders, and ability to delegate tasks; provide oversight on projects and staff; internal clients; and ability to work with multiple layers of the organization (including C-level executives).Excellent interpersonal skills (active listening, verbal, and written communication). Outstanding copywriting and editing skills. History of successful team management and individual team member coaching. Design thinking and presentations skills required. High-level understanding of research and research communications desired.Excellent computer skills, including expertise in Microsoft Office 365 and content management processes/tools. SharePoint experience a plus.Communications, marketing, advertising, or public relations in-house or agency; non-profit, educational institutionFamiliarity with M365 SharePoint Online, Canva, Adobe Creative Suites, and basic HTML. CRM experience is a plus.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

The pay range for this position is $114,000

-

$172,000.This position is classified as regular. Regular staff are eligible for NORC's comprehensive benefits program. Benefits include, but are not limited to:Generously subsidized health insurance, effective on the first day of employment
