We are seeking a Communications Manager to join our three-person Communications Office. The Communications Manager will collaborate with Communications team members and colleagues in other departments to develop and implement a comprehensive, strategic plan for all Prep for Prep communications and branding, including social media, website, print, and outreach to various stakeholders and constituencies. The ideal candidate is a communications generalist with experience across the full range of communications activities, a stellar project manager, and a strong writer and editor. The ideal candidate will be both a big-picture strategic and creative thinker and a doer willing to take on large and small tasks to achieve shared goals.This full-time, exempt position reports to the Director of Communications. This position is based in Prep for Prep’s West 71st Street office.Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:Strategic Communications PlanningCollaborate with the Director of Communications to develop and implement comprehensive communications plans that reflect and advance Prep for Prep’s mission.In collaboration with the Director of Communication, plan and create written and visual content for Prep’s communications channels.Liaise with the organization’s Development, Admissions, Alumni Affairs, and other departments to support their communications needs.Website and Social Media

ManagementDevelop and implement social media campaigns to meet the communications and marketing needs for student recruitment, donor and alumni engagement, and positioning Prep as a leader in its field.Monitor social media (comments, direct messaging), collect and report on analytics, and maintain social, editorial, and key-messaging calendars to spot trends and keep ahead of issues.Assist in updating and maintaining the organization’s website, optimize content for SEO, and ensure a positive user experience.Content Creation and Publication ManagementProduce in-house communications and marketing materials to support donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship; engagement of alumni, schools, and corporate partnerships; and student/family recruitment.Create compelling, mission-focused content for the organization’s website, social media channels, annual report, and other publications.Capture photography and videography, edit and customize for social media, the website, and in-house materials.Attend program events and photo and video shoots to provide in-house photography needs and production assistance.Using an email marketing tool (currently MailChimp), create and schedule emails to support fundraising efforts, organization awareness, and event attendance.Provide design assistance for marketing materials such as brochures, banners, infographics, and other visual assets.Skills, Experience, and CompetenciesBachelor’s degree required.Minimum three years of experience in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or related field. Experience in a nonprofit or educational setting is preferred.Strong written and oral communication skills, with an ability to adapt content to different audiences.Experience developing short- and long-term communication strategiesExcellent attention to detail and copyediting and proofreading skills; knowledge of Chicago Manual Style a plus.Proven track record managing social media channels for an organization.Skilled at relationship-building and comfortable engaging with various stakeholders and media outletsWorking knowledge of digital photography and videographyProficiency with social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, and X), website CMS, and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides).Working knowledge of Hootsuite, email marketing platforms, productivity (Asana and Slack), and database and customer relationship software (Filemaker and Salesforce) is a plus.Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment in handling confidential information and in alignment with organizational objectives.Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.Cultural competence in working with diverse constituents, including alumni, donors, trustees, program participants, and other stakeholdersFluency in reading and writing Spanish and/or Chinese is a plus.Working ConditionsThis is a hybrid position, with three days in office and two days remote. However, depending on the department's needs, this role may be required to work in-person more than three days per week.Occasional evening or weekend work may be required around major events.

CompensationThe annual base salary range is $70,000 to $80,000.How to Apply:
