Senior Grants Writer Remote option

This is a hybrid role from Kansas City, or fully remote for the right candidate! This newly created position at Unbound will expand and diversify funding sources and will have an exciting opportunity to help build out our grants program. The Sr. Grant Writer is responsible for building and managing a comprehensive grants program at Unbound with an initial expected fundraising goal of $1mm/year with an increase in the target as the grant program is built and finds success. This role involves identifying and researching potential funding opportunities as well as conducting the full range of activities required to prepare and submit timely, compelling and polished proposals and budgets, to foundations, corporations, and government sources. The Sr. Grant Writer will track funding needs, perform prospect research, and maintain a calendar of grant applications. Additionally, this role will write, prepare and submit Letters of Interest (LOIs) and grant applications, track and submit grant reporting on grant deliverables, and maintain all documents and program information required by funders. The Sr. Grant Writer will develop and foster strong relationships with public and private grant makers and ensure ongoing funder communication. This position will work closely with multiple departments including International Programs, fundraising team and Marketing & Communications. This role also has the potential to manage a grant writer eventually.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Grant Program Management:

Build and manage a comprehensive grants program that generates $1mm/yr in targeted funding.Track funding needs and perform prospect research.Maintain a robust calendar of grant applications and deadlines.Keep detailed records of all submitted, pending, and awarded grants.Proposal Development:

Identify and research potential funding opportunities.Prepare, write, and submit high quality proposals and budgets to foundations, corporations, and government sources.Write and submit Letters of Interest (LOIs) and grant applications.Grant Reporting and Compliance:

Track and report on grant deliverables.Maintain necessary documents and program information for funders.Ensure compliance with grant requirements and regulations.Provide regular reports to senior management on grant writing activities and successes.Relationship Management:

Develop and foster relationships with grant makers.Ensure ongoing communication with funders.Manage CRM entries and summarize awarded applications.Follow up on submitted proposals and provide feedback to the organization.Internal Collaboration:

Collaborate with various departments to gather information required for proposals.Maintain a strong knowledge of Unbound’s programs and initiatives to effectively advocate for funding.Provide support for other fundraising and department initiatives as needed.Supervisory Responsibilities : Directly supervises up to 2 direct reports. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Unbound's policies and applicable laws .

:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., English, Communications, Nonprofit Management).5-7 years of experience in grant writing and fundraisingProven track record of securing significant grants from foundations, corporations, and government sources.Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.Proficiency with CRM systems, grant databases and Microsoft Office Suite.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Preferred Qualifications

:

Master’s degree in a related field.Experience using Salesforce CRM.Experience managing staff.Experience in international development nonprofit organizations.Familiarity with the mission and programs of Unbound.
