Job Title: Contract Designer

Job Description

The Contract Designer will be responsible for designing fixtures from a 2D print that will need to be machined on a horizontal machining center. They have standard baseplate and tower designs, and the designer will need to design the faceplates to fit different part numbers. They will need to produce 3D assembly models of designs and then also produce 2D for all components that will be machined in the tool room. Most of their time will be spent at their desk designing, but when they are not designing, they may need to go to the machining area to ensure fixtures are being machined properly. This role is open because the company recently closed the Kittery, Maine location and is in the process of moving products to the Richland plant. This is causing an increase in fixtures and fixture parts. The contract will start at 3 months and could extend to 6 months.

Hard Skills

Fixture design experience

2D and 3D design experience

Proficiency in Solidworks or Inventor

Work Environment

This role will take place on-site at the Richland facility. The designer will spend the majority of their time at their desk working on designs. When not at their desk, they will be reviewing machining centers. They will be reporting to the Plant Manager.
