The Daily Memphian is seeking a Marketing Manager to join our organization. Called one of the best local news sites in the country by Politico, The Daily Memphian is the largest newsroom in Memphis and one of the largest non-profit local newsrooms in America, with 35 full-time journalists and 15 regular contributors as well as 12 full-time staff in marketing, ad sales, technology and business.Marketing ManagerThe Marketing Manager will work very closely with the newsroom, the fundraising team, customer service, tech and the ad sales team as they drive revenue, engagement and awareness of The Daily Memphian through a wide range of marketing efforts. In all these efforts, we are very focused on using analytics to make decisions and test ideas as well as failing fast and moving onto the next idea. The Marketing Manager's duties will particularly focus on:Adding and retaining subscriptions.Expanding readership, be it on-site visitors, email sign-ups or social media followers.Supporting the effectiveness of our advertising.Helping to promote and execute company events.Growing the number of donors to the company and helping to engage existing doors.Increasing the reach of our audio and video efforts.Key ResponsibilitiesManage all marketing-related efforts including but not limited to:Onboarding series' for new subscribers, new registered users, new editorial newsletter subscribers and donors.New subscriber campaigns, such as win back offers and periodic subscription sales.Donation campaigns for new and existing donors.Surveys of subscribers, non-subscribers, donors and other readers and supporters.Other email campaigns as needed.Utilize on-site messaging for onboarding and marketing messaging.Manage online marketing campaigns including SEO marketing, digital advertising on other sites, and - in conjunction with the social media manager - social media.Execute traditional marketing campaigns, including but not limited to billboards, TV, radio, and events.Assimilate, analyze and understand the effectiveness of all marketing efforts - both regular marketing efforts (e.g., onboarding) and periodic or ad hoc efforts (e.g., a one-off event, a TV campaign, and so on), as well as reporting on this analysis to a wide range of people in the company.Assist with company events, including our business seminar series, donation events, company events, and more.Key SkillsThe Marketing Manager position requires strong writing skills, a good sense of design and the ability to work with designers, experience with analytics software such as Google Analytics, experience with email management software, and a comfort level with data analysis.How to ApplyTo apply, email Izzy Gould, Chief Content Officer, at igould@.
