The Marketing Manager is a key member of the Development team and provides marketing, communications, copywriting, public relations and events support. This position is responsible for managing day-to-day marketing operations, strengthening donor communications, and improving the quality and consistency of the Rescue Mission's brand presence through multiple channels including print, radio, telemarketing, digital media, donor communications, and events. This position is a self-starter, organized and creative individual ready to take the Rescue Mission marketing and brand awareness to the next level.

Essential Responsibilities

Serve as a Member of the Development Team and meet regularly with Development team to collaborate and coordinate ministry effortsCollaborate with the Marketing team to execute quality communicationsSupport Development Team marketing & communications strategies and projectsSupport and assist in other Development goals and responsibilitiesHelp achieve department revenue goals and team objectivesTo Develop Marketing Campaigns & Communications Plans

Assist with marketing and fundraising campaign development and executionManage marketing & communications calendar ensuring regular updatesWork with agency partners, photographers and videographers on special projectsDevelop original marketing materials from concept to completion (print & digital)Write graphic design briefs and manage design projects for print, website and digitalEnsure all production deadlines are metMonitor, create and implement website content updates with webmasterMaintain consistency and excellence in our branding and marketing approachTrack and report the impact of marketing efforts to ensure goals are reachedWork with the Donor Services team to execute Development team projectsTo Craft Content and Serve as Primary Copywriter

Gather and curate inspiring and impactful content to be used in promoting the Mission's unique story and brandServe as the primary copywriter for marketingCommunicate about Christian faith-based and Biblical topics in an authentic wayResearch, collect and write program participant stories for use in donor communications and marketing materialsDevelop strategy for donor communications and collaborate with Donor Services to execute the communications/cultivation planCollaborate with Social Media & Marketing Assistant in content brainstormsTo Support Special Events

Collaborate with development staff in the planning of specialty Mission development events (in-person and online events), event graphics needs, promotions and advertisementSupport the Development team in the execution of fundraising eventsDevelop event invitations, signage, promo items and marketing materialsEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with Mission staff and vendorsAssist with set-up, tear-down and day-of operations and AV support as neededTo Assist in Public Relations and Community Relations Efforts

Support public relations activities, including planning, release editing, and interview coordination and manage opportunities during Mission and community eventsAssist in creating a public relations strategy that allows the Mission to develop its brand throughout the communityResearch and maintain a strong knowledge on the San Diego Rescue Mission and an understanding of Homelessness in San DiegoRepresent our Mission, Vision and Values

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, journalism or related field from an Accredited University or College preferred.

Experience:

Minimum 3-5 years full-time work experience in marketing and communications that demonstrates successful execution of projects, campaigns and events. Preferred experience in non-profit and digital marketing. Experience directing graphic design, working with creative professionals and marketing agencies required. Videography and photography skills a plus.

Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Google Suite, Google Analytics, MailChimp or similar email platform.

Videography and Photography experience desired.

Self-starter, highly organized, and able to work independently and as an effective team member.

Team player with a positive attitude and enthusiasm.

Travel/Transportation:

The incumbent must travel on a regular (or periodic) basis, as the job requires. The incumbent must have reliable transportation (public transportation may be acceptable depending on the purpose of travel). If the incumbent receives authorization to use a Mission vehicle to perform duties, he or she must present a current California driver's license and good driving record in order to be placed on the Mission's insurance policy.MANAGERIAL ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY

The incumbent has no supervision of paid staff initially but will assume supervisory responsibility as our organization expands.ENVIRONMENT

The incumbent has a workspace that is generally clean and comfortable. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc. The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will. The incumbent will also perform some duties in a residential setting, which consists of individuals who may have a mental or physical disability or illness.

Physical resources may be limited, and in some cases, are donated.
