MECHANICAL PRODUCT DESIGNER ROLE SUMMARY:

The Mechanical Product Designer will be a key member of the Dresser Measurement engineering team, collaborating closely with mechanical engineers to create innovative designs and detailed drafts for various projects. This role focuses on translating engineering concepts into practical designs while ensuring compliance with product requirements and industry standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Utilize CAD software, primarily PTC Creo and AutoCAD, to create and revise detailed drawings, including machining, assembly, general arrangement, labels, and wiring diagrams.Collaborate with mechanical engineers to interpret specifications and translate them into design solutions, ensuring ease of manufacturing and adherence to project timelines.Assist in the development of new products by incorporating feedback from cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, quality, and manufacturing.Participate in design reviews and provide input on design feasibility, manufacturability, and cost considerations.Support engineers in the preparation of technical documentation, including design specifications, assembly instructions, and project reports.Create and manage bills of materials (BOMs) and ensure all design documentation is up to date and accurate.Engage in prototyping activities, including 3-D printing, to validate design concepts and improve product functionality.Learn and utilize ERP software for document control, parts database management, and quality management system workflows.Maintain awareness of current industry trends and advancements in design technologies.REQUIRED SKILLS

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.3+ years of experience in a design or drafting role within a manufacturing environment, with a portfolio demonstrating design capabilities.Proficiency in PTC Creo and AutoCAD, with a strong understanding of CAD best practices.Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, casting, etc.), materials selection, and assembly techniques.DESIRED SKILLS

Strong creative problem-solving abilities, with a focus on adapting designs for improved performance.Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with engineers and other stakeholders.Self-motivated and proactive in identifying opportunities for design improvements and efficiencies.
