The Random House Children’s Book’s Marketing Department seeks a Marketing Assistant to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Director of Trade Marketing and Strategic Development and the Executive Director, School & Library Marketing, the role offers the opportunity to work closely with an innovative group of marketers collaborating in a fast-paced environment and to support marketing initiatives for our titles and authors while helping champion our Random House Children’s Books frontlist and backlist to readers everywhere.

Random House Children’s Books is home to bestselling and award-winning trade authors and illustrators from Max and Suzanne Lang (Grumpy Monkey) and Emily Winfield Martin (The Wonderful Things You Will Be) to Nic Stone (author of Dear Martin) and Karen McManus (One of Us Is Lying), Nicola Yoon (Everything, Everything and The Sun Is Also a Star), Holly Jackson (A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder) Christopher Paolini (The Inheritance Cycle) and renowned brands like Dr. Seuss and Richard Scarry.

The Marketing Assistant should be highly motivated, enthusiastic about publishing, and have an interest in children’s books. This role will work with colleagues in other departments within the division, especially our Publishing Office, Sales, Publicity, Book Design and Editorial groups. The Assistant will be a detail-oriented self-starter, a strong written and verbal communicator, and an organized multitasker who is comfortable asking for help when needed and wants to be an active participant on a collaborative team. If you can manage the details of urgent tasks immediately but also remember to step back, consider the big picture, and adjust your strategy when needed, you'll assume greater marketing responsibilities over time.

This hybrid position has occasional in-office responsibilities, including but not limited to in-office meetings, mailings, library and promotional collection management, and other daily ad hoc administrative projects. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA)

The Role:

Working closely with the Senior Director of Trade Marketing and Strategic Development as well as members of the Sales and Publishing teams to plan and optimize a schedule of seasonal key dates, with input from members across the Marketing teamsDeveloping and maintaining the divisional seasonal title grid and all supporting documentsProviding major support for our key seasonal meetings including scheduling, maintaining and communicating key moments and milestones, creating meeting invites and agendas, setting up and maintaining campaign plan documents, scheduling follow-up meetings and taking and disseminating notesMaintaining regular communication from Marketing to other divisional departmentsWorking closely with the Senior Director of Trade Marketing and Strategic Development and the wider Marketing team to plan for and produce seasonal print and digital Sales materials, in partnership with Managing Editorial and Book ProductionSupport the School & Library Marketing department in administrative needs including mailings, website updating, overall file and material storage and organization, invoicing, POS setup, and moreProviding general administrative support to the Senior Director of Trade Marketing and Strategic Development, the Executive Director of School & Library Marketing, and the Senior Vice President of Marketing and the including managing meeting calendars, creating and sharing key documents, and providing support across the Marketing organization

The salary for this position is $48,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
