User AnalysisInterview and observe users as they workDevelop user models (personas) and task models (scenarios)Define user requirements based on the research and modelsDefine and test information architecturesUser Interface DesignDesign screen templates and navigation patterns for an entire siteDesign mockups (wireframes) of individual screensConduct usability tests, walkthroughs, and heuristic evaluations to guide designProduce UI specifications developers can use to codeWrite and maintain UI style guidesKeep up to date with current web trends and UI design best practicesQualifications:
Must have a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant subject (Psychology, Information Science, Human Factors, etc.)At least 5 years experience in the interface design and usability fieldHave good communication skills (someone who serves as a bridge between developers and subject matter experts)Be a part of an expanding team of designers and help establish user-centered design at a world-class scientific institution.
