Lead Designer

to join the in-house creative agency of a world-renowned media company to dream up and realize all aspects of branding across multiple properties.

You will be hired as the lead designer of this new group (the first official team-member after the boss, who comes from one of the hippest agencies in NYC). Your mandate is to build brand-forward marketing and promotional materials for a variety of internal stakeholders regardless of the medium you are designing for.You will be asked to hit the ground running, designing all kinds of assets from in-house advertising and print collateral to digital invitations for conferences and events for thought leaders and captains of industry.As the lead designer, your role is all about brand elevation through the creation of striking visual assets for extremely visible initiatives.They would love someone to start in mid-January 2019. The first couple of months are brand audits, stakeholder meetings, planning, creative briefing, and getting to know you. Then it’s all about executing on high-profile projects — initially driving support for Davos and other important events where the brand has a presence. As the year progresses, so will the work: a major branding relaunch of one of the company’s signature media properties, then an entire brand system for an important event series which will have all kinds of assets, from invitations to its own magazine.Hired Gun ProfileExperience working inside a major media company is a major plus — especially if you’ve worked both on the print and digital sides of the business. If not there, you have worked at top luxury organizations from hospitality to real estate where you’ve created lovely experiences that set the tone.You are a strong visual designer. Typographic sensibilities are your jam, and bad kerning hurts your soul. You’ve had experience taking projects from concept to implementation, working with fellow designers, writers, and producers — and even outside agencies when needed — to get the job done. You’re comfortable interfacing with stakeholders to define strategy and goals, and you know how to navigate a large organization to do your job effectively.And you love being first on the ground building things!Inside SkinnyWe love The Atlantic, Bloomberg, New York Magazine, New York Times, and The Economist.
