JOB TITLE & SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the VP of Corporate Development, the Associate Director, Corporate Development will have a direct impact on the strategic evolution of the company. This individual will support the conceptualizing, qualifying and executing key initiatives consistent with Ardelyx's long-range strategic plan. Additionally, this individual will take a partnership role in assessing strategic opportunities for growth and investment in existing and new TA's, territories and other significant areas of strategic potential identified for Ardelyx. They will work closely with Ardelyx's executive leadership team, as well as the cross-functional teams within the organization. The new AD, Corporate Development will be a key strategic partner to both the EVP and VP of Corporate Development and in particular will play a key leadership role in executing M&A/business development activities, corporate strategy, long range planning and alliance management. To be successful in this role, you must have an entrepreneurial spirit, excellent financial modeling, project management, negotiation and communication skills, and the ability to think strategically and creatively. You should also be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple projects simultaneously. Position Duties:

Advance, support, and manage all components of Ardelyx's long-range strategic plan, working with the EVP and VP of Corporate Development on such initiatives. In particular, led and support assessment and formulation of outbound BD&L strategyServe as internal expert in identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing licensing opportunities to execute on strategic plan.Run the process supporting the evaluation and negotiation of M&A and licensing opportunities.Identify, evaluate and build external relationships within the biotech/pharm eco-system.Oversee quantitative and qualitative analysis to support core strategic priorities.Monitor and communicate market and environmental trends that inform strategy development.Position Requirements:Educational background : Master's Degree in business, finance, or related field. Cardiorenal or Gastrointestinal training/ experience is highly desired but not a must. Broad understanding of cardiorenal, gastrointestinal or similar therapeutic area is ideal.Senior Level Leadership experience : 5-7 years of progressive deal experience working for a biopharma company, with successful track record in having supported innovative companies to significant growth. Global experience is highly preferred.Business Development and Corporate Strategy : Strategic skills with initiative, emotional intelligence and interpersonal capabilities to achieve transformative change. This individual has strong quantitative and analytical due diligence skills and has an operational and/or strategy background across a combination of corporate development and commercial experience. Deal process, modeling, negotiation and execution experience is crucial.Superb communication/negotiation style : This person must be a highly articulate and fluid communicator in both individual and group settings. It is necessary that this individual can work collaboratively with a highly competent scientific team while building awareness of the company in the external marketplace. Furthermore, the ability to influence a broad range of constituents, both scientific and business in orientation, internally, externally and on the Board of Directors is essential.Corporate office based in Waltham, MA or Fremont, Ca position with regular travel to Ardelyx corporate offices.The anticipated annualized base pay range for this full-time position is $171,000-$209,000. Ardelyx utilizes industry data to ensure that our compensation is competitive and aligned with our industry peers. Actual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors, including years of relevant experience, training, qualifications, and internal equity. The compensation package may also include an annual bonus target and equity awards, subject to eligibility and other requirements.Ardelyx also offers a robust benefits package to employees, including a 401(k) plan with generous employer match, 12 weeks of paid parental leave, up to 12 weeks living organ and bone marrow leave, equity incentive plans, health plans (medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision), life insurance and disability, flexible time off, annual Winter Holiday shut down, and at least 11 paid holidays.
