The Position

Contra Costa Health is seeking a talented Graphic Designer who will be responsible for creating visually compelling and informative materials to support various department programs and initiatives. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in developing graphics, layouts, and visual assets that effectively communicate key messages and enhance the department's public outreach efforts.

License Required:

Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Out of State valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License will be accepted during the application process.

Education:

Completion of 45 semester units or 60 quarter units from an accredited college or university with at least 12 units in graphic design multimedia, or closely related course work.

Experience:

Two (2) years of full time experience or its equivalent in drafting, planning and designing commercial or graphic design utilizing computer graphics design software in print materials and for web applications.

Desirable Qualifications:Proven experience in graphic design, preferably in a government, nonprofit, or public sector settingProficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other design toolsStrong portfolio showcasing creative design projects, including print and digital materials, branding, and visual storytellingExcellent design skills with a keen eye for detail, composition, and typographyAbility to interpret and translate complex information into engaging and visually appealing designsKnowledge of printing processes, file formats, and production techniquesOrganizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Selection Process

Application Filing and Evaluation:

Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process.

Online Multiple-Choice Assessment:

Candidates who possess the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in an online multiple-choice assessment. The assessment will be conducted online to measure candidates; competencies as they relate to the Graphic Designer position. Candidates must receive a score of at least 70%, which may be an adjusted score, in order to be ranked on the employment list. (Weighted 100%)The Graphic Designer exam is tentatively scheduled to take place via computer (remotely) the week of September 9th, 2024. The assessment will be administered remotely using a computer or mobile device such as a tablet or smartphone. You will need access to a reliable internet connection to take part in the assessment.

Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an invitation to participate in the selection process.

The Human Resources Department may change the examination steps noted above in accordance with the Personnel Management Regulations and accepted selection practices.
