Job Summary

The College of Lake County Foundation’s Marketing and Communication Specialist focuses on fundraising and advancement activities. This position is instrumental in creating fundraising and stewardship materials and projects supporting the Annual Giving, Alumni Relations Programs, and Restricted Scholarship Program. Reporting to the Community Giving Manager, the Marketing and Communication Specialist works closely with other CLC Foundation staff, CLC faculty and staff members, and select Foundation Board, alums, students, and community volunteers.

Required Qualification(s)

Associate’s degree or certificate in marketing, digital media design, graphic design, communications or a related field from an accredited college

Demonstrated knowledge, creativity and skill applicable to the position duties as reflected in a robust media portfolio, writing samples or other materials

Excellent communication skills (verbal, active listening and written)

Must be well-organized with superior attention to detail and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends as required for events.

Proven ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Ability and willingness to develop and maintain expertise applicable technology including but not limited to Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word

Bilingual Spanish and English

Summary of Essential Functions

Project and Process Management: 80%

Plan and implement content strategies across social media platforms.

Manage multiple social media platforms, including Facebook and LinkedIn.

Create high-quality designs for multiple pieces per project and maintain brand consistency.

Collaborate with external agencies and vendors as needed, managing the production process and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality design assets.

Provide event logistical support. Organize venue and vendor contracts, attendees and special guests, and other arrangements as requested and approved by the supervisor, Executive Director, and CLC Foundation Board Events Committee or other planning committee.

Schedule meetings, coordinate meeting logistics, prepare required meeting/event materials, and take detailed notes/minutes at the required external committee, internal staff, and other planning meetings.

Collect and prepare advancement materials under the direction of the Community Giving Manager and other CLC Foundation leadership.

Produce requested donor and scholarship reports.

Assist with the planning and execution of Foundation events.

Track progress of event/project plans and budgets.

Provide and analyze fundraising progress and performance reports leading to and following projects and events.

Customer/Student Service: 10%

Recruit and coordinates event volunteers before and during events.

Assess volunteer needs and responsibilities and provide training and feedback of volunteers’ effectiveness to event leaders.

Other: 10%

Perform any and all other assigned duties in support of the mission and vision of the College of Lake County and the CLC Foundation.
