Technical Writer- ManufacturingWavetronix, the global leader in radar-based vehicle detection technologies, is seeking a Technical Documentation Specialist who will work as part of the operations team to create and maintain documentation for processes related to the manufacture of product. The right individual for this role will have strong writing and communication skills and experience in writing technical documentation to streamline processes and product flow. The candidate will have the ability to effectively interface with personnel across the company and gather information to use for inter-company and customer facing documents.Required Experience and Competencies:+ A technical degree with experience in writing and 1 to 3 years of equivalent industry experience.+ Good writing skills; ability to organize and simplify information.+ Excellent grasp of grammar and spelling.+ Ability to manage software and document expectations.+ Experience with Adobe InDesign, 1 to 3 years.+ Comfortable interacting with other departments to gather information.Desired Experience and Competencies:+ Experience with Photoshop, and Illustrator.+ Higher level education a plus.+ Actively take initiative to improve processes.+ Familiarity with other software and technology related to digital media.Duties and Responsibilities:+ Be the expert in creating, revising and controlling documents for Manufacturing Operations using Adobe InDesign and actively seek to improve them.+ Ensure documents, procedures and work instructions are ready on demand.+ Work with production personnel and other stakeholders to revise and create new documents as needed.+ Work with engineers to create documentation for new processes and products that are technically sound and operationally feasible.+ Perform audits to ensure employees are trained to documented processes and that the documents are being used.+ Maintain the documentation control system and software with its contents to meet the intent of ISO 9001 requirements.By the end of the first 30 days:+ Onboard and train in Wavetronix procedures and processes.+ Train for a week in both the SMT area and Assembly, to create good working relationships and analyze current documentation to assess gaps.+ Train for 2 days in the shipping/receiving area, to create good working relationships and analyze current documentation to assess gaps.+ Train for 3 days with the technical writing team to get a baseline of what Wavetronix already does. Understand the naming convention and where digital assets are stored.By the end of the first 90 days:+ Perform a gap analysis on the current software for document control and creation and determine if it will meet the needs of the Manufacturing Operations and if necessary, find and recommend a different solution.+ Begin migration of all documents into the chosen software.+ Create the process for document creation, control and maintenance.+ Develop a timeline for migration and update of all current documents.By the end of the first 6 months+ Create the department style guide.+ Have all current documents and procedures moved to the chosen software.+ Create a plan to revise all documents to new style guide.+ Edit and maintain current documents, work instructions and procedures.+ Participate in personal development training.By the end of the first year+ Take full responsibility for writing new documents; oversee documentation projects from beginning to end.+ Develop good rapport with different teams and departments.+ Continuously improve processes and responsibilities.About Wavetronix:Wavetronix' purpose is to enable rewarding careers and foster personal development.
