**Job Description:**THE OPPORTUNITYThe Scope Magazine team is seeking a highly engaged, curious, team-oriented writer and editor to participate in all facets of ideating, creating, and producing _Scope_ , our flagship print and digital middle school resource for English Language Arts. This person will be a key member of our small, close-knit and deeply committed team, ready to immerse themselves in the world of middle schoolers and their teachers.RESPONSIBILITIES+ Contribute fresh multimedia story ideas to engage middle schoolers, build knowledge, and support curriculum+ Research and write short articles, video scripts, and departmental features such as infographics, debates, and more.+ Write support materials, including quizzes, vocabulary glossaries and activities, graphic organizers, and other skill-building activities.+ Assist with monthly update of digital resources, working closely with managing editor and members of the digital team+ Travel for school visits and professional learning opportunities+ Assist with management of teacher advisor program and social media+ Develop a keen understanding of middle school pedagogy and trends, as well as the interests and needs of early adolescents.WHO WE AREScholastic Corporation (NASDAQ: SCHL) is the world's largest publisher and distributor of children's books, a leading provider of core literacy curriculum and professional services, and a producer of educational and entertaining children's media.
