**Job Description:**THE OPPORTUNITYThe Scope Magazine team is seeking a highly engaged, curious, team-oriented senior editor to participate in all facets of ideating, creating, and producing Scope, our flagship print and digital middle school resource for English Language Arts. This person will be a key member of our small, close-knit and deeply committed team and immerse themselves in the world of middle schoolers and their teachers.RESPONSIBILITIES+ Research, write, and edit short articles and longer features+ Aid in producing videos and other multimedia+ Work closely with editorial leadership to ideate new features and support materials calibrated to the ever-shifting interests of middle schoolers and changing needs of the middle school classroom+ Contribute fresh multimedia, multi-genre story ideas to engage middle schoolers, build knowledge, and support curriculum+ Write and edit support materials, including quizzes, skill-building activities, and vocabulary.+ Contribute to the monthly update of digital resources, working closely with managing editor and members of the digital team+ Travel for school visits and professional learning opportunities+ Develop a keen understanding of middle school pedagogy and trends, as well as the interests and needs of early adolescents.WHO WE AREScholastic Corporation (NASDAQ: SCHL) is the world's largest publisher and distributor of children's books, a leading provider of core literacy curriculum and professional services, and a producer of educational and entertaining children's media.
