This is an onsite role based in Boston, MA. Employees are expected to be onsite Tuesdays-Thursday, and work remotely Mondays and Fridays.

We are looking for outstanding candidates to join us as full time Software Development Managers. Successful candidates will have led teams that solve complex and broad business problems with simple and straightforward solutions, applying appropriate technologies and software engineering best practices, building solutions that are scaled and performed. You will also have a focus on the customer experience, great teamwork and communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment.

You will lead an Agile team at our development center in Boston, MA, launching and growing new initiatives for Wayfair's global websites. Your team will own the business, technology and operations, giving you the responsibility and authority to ensure success. You will be involved in every aspect of the process

from idea generation, business analysis and technical design through to software development across a variety of technologies. Your systems will meet remarkably high standards of performance and reliability, and will operate at massive scale, 24x7.

What You’ll Do:

Lead and manage a team of 5 - 9 engineers focused on building services that support the Wayfair sponsored program and its integration with Storefront and Recommendation systems within Wayfair.

Own the output of the team both from a technical and performance perspective.

Mentor engineers in the team through training, coaching, code reviews, and 1:1 mentorship providing career and professional development for your staff.

Accountable for the systems built by your team including technical design, development, test, monitoring, and deployment.

Engage your team to construct the technical roadmap and lead planning, delivery and continuous improvement.

Partner with product on defining roadmaps and ensure the team has a compelling mission with well defined KPIs to measure progress and success.

Raise the bar from both a technical and process perspective.

We Are a Match Because You Have:

Experience working directly within engineering teams

Experience partnering with product or program management team

Experience managing a team of high caliber Software Engineers developing complex, world class, scalable software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers

Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

Experience in leading the definition and development of multi tier web services

Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Experience analyzing business and operational metrics.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Computer Science degree or postgraduate study. In lieu of a degree, relevant skills and equivalent experience.

We Are a Match Because You Also Have :

Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

Experience in the digital advertising or marketing space

Familiarity with the technical aspects of digital / display advertising OR familiarity with high speed, ML heavy systems
