As a Designer at Structural Building Solutions, you will be responsible for designing building components such as manufactured roof and floor trusses, engineered wood products (I-joists), and/or wood framed wall panels. Your duties will include creating floor or roof framing layouts from a set of construction plans and analyzing the framing components using engineering software. You will support the project from design to production and will be responsible for coordinating with sales personnel. Training will be provided.

On-site positions are available in Thurmont, Marylandandin Trinity, North Carolina. Both locations allow hybrid work flexibility for employees who have demonstrated success in working independently. Remote work options are also available for experienced Designers.

Responsibilities

Design high-quality floor and roof systems for residential and commercial projects.Read architectural prints to create precise roof, floor, and wall panel layouts.Utilize engineering software to analyze components.Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize designs.Calculate and apply area load conditions as specified or required by local codes or jurisdiction requirements.Communicate clearly and effectively with all team members.Participate in a positive company culture demonstrated by prompt attendance, reliability, and positive interactions with teammates and co-workers.Demonstrates a willingness and interest to learn and apply technical principles, construction standards, and company guidelines.Performs other duties as needed or otherwise assigned by Design Manager.

Position Type and Work Hours

This is a full-time position. The Designer is expected to work a minimum of 8 hours per day Monday - Friday with typical availability between 8:00am and 4:00pm. Start and end times are flexible. Overtime is available.

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED is required. Associate or bachelors degree preferred but not required. Work experience in component design, component manufacturing, or construction will be considered in lieu of educational requirements.
