Job Summary & Requirements

Job Summary:

Formulates processes and procedures, and oversees design and production of art and copy layouts for material to be represented by visual communications media such as books, labels and packaging by performing the following duties.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Recruits, interviews, hires and trains new staff.Oversees the daily workflow of the department.Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.Manages department schedule and individual time-off requests, including reviewing and approving employee timecards.Duties/Responsibilities:

Performs other related duties as assigned.Demonstrates the behaviors of punctuality, regular attendance, professionalism towards supervisors and co-workers, and self-directed task completion.Maintains clean work area.Must comply with all departmental SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures), company GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices), Employee Handbook Policies, including attendance, and all safety rules and standards.Works normal shift hours and overtime as required.Coordinates efforts as part of the team to provide assistance to all co-workers in all departments to maximize production efficiencies as needed.Communicates with customers regarding problem files, missing files, etc.Provides press proofs for quality critical jobs.Attends meetings regarding critical jobs to provide insight.Communicates with management regarding potential issues and helps provide solutions.Prioritizes, tracks, handles, and maintains records of the elements, costs, and time schedules of multiple projects.Designs layouts and prepares designs for production, or supervises graphic designers.Approves sample layouts and finished layouts.Facilitates and coordinates reception of art from customers.Provides art to outside vendors such as printers.Reviews quality of final product before release to internal customers.Delivers work to internal customers within specified budget and deadline.Manages external vendors when platemaking is outsourced.Ensures the platemaking operation is providing a quality product in a timely fashion.Required Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or seven - ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Regularly required reach with hands and arms.

Regularly required to talk or hear.

Frequently required to stand and walk.

Regularly lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
