Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal / Sr. Principal Electrical Computer Aided Design (eCAD) Tooling Lead. This position is located in Roy, UT or Huntsville, AL and supports the Sentinel program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

What You'll Get To Do:

  • Candidate will be responsible to develop, maintain and train eCAD tools, specifically Siemens Xpedition and Capital.

  • Candidate will function as Product Owner and Technical Lead for the development, testing and implementation of the Siemens Capital and Xpedition electrical engineering tools to include the development of the electrical engineering digital-thread and digital twin

  • Candidate will collaborate with electrical, mechanical, components, materials, manufacturing, and other engineering disciplines to support the design of weapon systems and equipment under an overarching Systems Engineering and full lifecycle management framework.

  • Candidate will demonstrate knowledge of part models development for EEE parts within Xpedition and Capital and will conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with designers and/or product line engineers in design, development, and utilization of software to maintain a representation of components for the electrical tool libraries

  • Candidate must be detail-oriented and have a background in CAD usage and knowledge of part specs. Develop and maintain symbol and cell generation libraries.

  • Create and review library components, symbols, and cells in accordance with established NGC and IPC industry guidelines meeting high levels of accuracy.

  • Generate support documentation to meet NGC standards.

  • Candidate will demonstrate a general understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts relative to EEE parts management.

  • Candidate will demonstrate general knowledge of Systems Engineering, multi-generational program system and/or multi-generational program subsystem development, and familiarity with supplier management.

  • Applicant is expected to work independently to provide innovative technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.

  • A successful candidate will bring a strong ability to understand, implement and adhere to documented processes. Attention to detail and an inherent ability to interpret datasheets, along with a capacity to make sound decisions.

  • Candidate will professionally represent the Strategic Deterrent Systems and Sentinel organizations while interacting with internal and external contacts including suppliers, senior personnel and executive leadership on matters requiring coordination between organizations and sectors

  • Candidate will be self-motivated, work under general direction, and work well in teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools is essential.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Job Qualifications:

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Principal Electrical Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 5 years of experience; 3 years with Master's Degree; 0 years of experience with a PhD.

  • Sr Principal Electrical Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 9 years of experience; 7 years with Master's Degree; 4 years of experience with a PhD.

Required for both levels:

  • Must be a US Citizen with an active (at time of application) DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance

  • Development and Maintenance Experience using Siemens Xpedition and/or Capital eCAD tools

  • Working knowledge of IPC standards for cell creation in support of PCB layout, land patterns, and acceptance criteria

  • Experience in electrical subsystem integration and/or design and installation of electrical cable assemblies

  • Experience supporting multiple Model Based Systems Engineering efforts in order to integrate ECAD tools with Systems Engineering modeling tools such as Cameo

  • Experience in PLM systems and the functionalities of design, software, and test

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office tools

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Masters or Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or other degree in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of designing wiring harness assemblies and printed circuit boards

  • Experience with Siemens NX, and Siemens Teamcenter

  • Current Sentinel special program access

  • Working knowledge of military and industry standards for electrical design parts and assemblies

  • Familiar with technical drawings and engineering data for electrical design parts and assemblies

  • Experience and familiarity with life cycle management

  • Familiar with supply chain management as it relates to electrical design parts management and obtaining technical specifications on components

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management

Salary Range: $92,600 - $139,000
Salary Range 2: $114,900 - $172,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
