Job Description

Playaway Products is looking for a Content Acquisitions Manager to lead and enhance our content strategy across multiple products. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in the publishing industry, strong negotiation skills, proven business judgement, excellent relationship building skills, and someone that will thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement content strategies across multiple products to achieve business objectives.
  • Support acquisitions work including presentations, pitches, contract negotiations, identifying opportunities to source content as well as key content providers.
  • Cultivate partnerships across external publishing partners, Playaway content and product teams, and international stakeholders to deliver the best content experience to customers.
  • Manage book industry publisher relationships, develop global process, and work with diverse internal and external partners to bring content to our programs that customers will love.
  • Successfully negotiate advances and royalties. Draft, finalize and approve legal contracts to acquire audiobooks, alternative audio formats, print books, ebooks and apps.
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure progress.
  • Research and understand information about market trends to drive recommendations for content products, curation, acquisition.
  • Manage Playaway's internal studio imprint, B1 Studios, by identifying, pursuing and acquiring audio rights and overseeing the audio creation process from beginning to end.
  • Lead and manage an Acquisitions team of three.


Qualifications
  • Proven experience in content acquisition and licensing with ability to initiate and manage relationships with executive leaders and decision-makers
  • Superior communication skills for internal and external contracts and ability to work with a wide variety of personalities and executive level leaders.
  • Proficient in analyzing data and aligning outcomes with business objectives
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail
  • Knowledge of trends and processes in the publishing industry desirable
  • Experience in publishing and/or digital media highly valued
  • Willingness to travel and attend industry trade shows and events up to 30%
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5 to 10 years' experience in acquisitions, preferably in the publishing/media industry
