Communications Specialist

position linked to a contract that we hold with the International Trade Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce. The Communications Specialist will support

SelectUSA’s Communications and Outreach (C&O)

team in their efforts to engage stakeholders and amplify the program’s work in attracting and retaining foreign direct investment (FDI) in the United States. This position is based in Washington, DC and is metro accessible (Federal Triangle). Hybrid telework options are available, with 3 days per week in office.

Responsibilities:Work alongside various teams within SelectUSA to create compelling social media and website content that drives audience engagement and actionable outcomes.Develop and manage a social media calendar focused on strategic year-round engagement campaigns.Maintain the program's website by ensuring consistent and up-to-date information is regularly posted.Produce and distribute electronic collateral including newsletters, flyers, and brochures.Assist in drafting briefing materials and talking points for various stakeholders.Monitor engagement levels, track metrics, and deliver quarterly analytical reports.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field with at least 6 years of relevant professional experience OR a master’s degree with at least 4 years of experience.Preferred experience in economic development, international trade, or international affairs; previous work with federal government clients is a plus.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and PowerPoint).Familiarity with tools like Hootsuite, GovDelivery, Drupal, and/or Adobe Creative Suite is advantageous.Experience in designing social media graphics is a plus.Strong attention to detail and the ability to create polished content for public distribution.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.Enthusiastic, adaptable, and capable of multitasking.Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.Successful completion of a public trust background check with the U.S. Government / Department of Commerce required before commencing work.
