**Overview**PNNL’s Communications organization is comprised of over 100 talented communications professionals committed to elevating PNNL’s reputation, inspiring action, and engaging audiences by transforming the Lab’s science into influential communications and compelling stories.**Responsibilities**Job DescriptionAs an internal communications specialist for PNNL, you will strategically orchestrate and optimize crafted, targeted, and impactful messages tailored to diverse stakeholders, ensuring alignment with organizational outcomes and leveraging advanced communication tools and methodologies. Our commitment is to elevate the lab's culture, promote effective information flow, and contribute to the overall success of the Lab through seamless and efficient communication. This role involves driving effective communication that supports various initiatives throughout the Lab. These include but are not limited to newsletters, events, story creation and amplification, enterprise-level communications, channel and distribution support, and special assignments. The successful candidate will be a seasoned communications professional with a proven ability to write and share clear and engaging messages.Key Responsibilities:We seek a savvy communications professional to build strategies, campaigns, and communication products for various initiatives throughout the Lab. In this role, you will partner closely with other communication professionals to execute employee-facing communications that maximize staff awareness in various areas through a diverse set of channels. The successful candidate is a strategic thinker and self-starter who enjoys exploring new ways to tell and present information for maximum impact, thrives under deadlines, and quickly delivers succinct and effective products.+ Work with various partners throughout the Lab to create newsletter content that aligns with the Lab's mission, vision, and values, creating the desired impact and outcomes for deliverables.+ Develop, write, and distribute newsletters and emails informing stakeholders of key updates.+ Use strategic thinking, planning, and project management skills to conceptualize and execute highly impactful internal communications campaigns/plans to help meet and communicate Lab-wide announcements and events.+ Coordinate and execute communication strategies, including content creation and distribution.+ Responsible for the lab's flagship digital communication platform and weekly newsletter, including uploading content submitted by staff and ensuring it is aligned with channel guidelines, working with staff on submissions, and answering questions relative to the newsletter.+ Administration of the lab's social media advocacy program, including entering content into Jira and following program workflow to ensure proper approvals are sought and gained. As well as content creation.+ Create textured communication materials to support initiatives, including emails, newsletters, videos, presentations, and other relevant collateral.+ Develop communication toolkits and resources in alignment with campaign goals and intended outcomes.+ Engage with key stakeholders to understand perspectives, concerns, and feedback.+ Provide both tactical and strategic counsel and guidance relative to messaging needs.+ Collaborate with Communications colleagues to deliver relevant information to all audiences through appropriate channels, focusing on timeliness, efficiency, and quality.+ Have the ability and passion to learn new technologies to catalyze new ways of work.+ Build trust and meaningful relationships with fellow communications staff and throughout the Lab.+ Regularly assess and report on communication outcomes, making data-driven decisions to achieve greater outcomes.+ Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of communication strategies.+ Analyze engagement trends and pivot as needed.**Qualifications**Minimum Qualifications:+ BS/BA and 5+ years of relevant work experience -OR-+ MS/MA and 3+ years of relevant work experiencePreferred Qualifications:+ Requires depth and/or breadth of expertise in specialized areas and general knowledge of related areas.+ Specialized areas to include: Strategic writing, newsletters & campaigns, event/program promotion, toolkits and/or content management+ Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends best practices.+ Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions.+ Communicates complex concepts; anticipates potential objections and influences others to adopt a different point of view.+ Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.+ May lead functional teams or projects.+ A bold thinking, growth-oriented mindset, and an instinct to self-initiate action.+ Diplomacy, listening skills, and a consultative mindset.+ Strategic thinker with the ability to align communication strategies with organizational objectives.+ Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.+ Adaptable and comfortable navigating through ambiguity.+ Results-oriented with a focus on achieving measurable outcomes.**Additional Information**Not Applicable.**Testing Designated Position**This is not a Testing Designated Position (TDP).**About PNNL**Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is a world-class research institution powered by a highly educated, diverse workforce committed to the values of Integrity, Creativity, Collaboration, Impact, and Courage. Starting pay is calculated from the minimum of the pay range and actual placement in the range is determined based on an individual’s relevant job-related skills, qualifications, and experience.
