DCG is seeking a highly skilled Senior Writer (Public Affairs) to join our team supporting DHS’s Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships (CP3). The Senior Writer will play a crucial role in crafting a variety of content, including speeches, high-level talking points, op-eds, and other journalistic pieces. This position requires exceptional writing abilities, a keen eye for detail, and the capacity to distill complex government information into clear, compelling communications for the public.Key Responsibilities:+ Content Creation: Develop and write a wide range of materials, including speeches, high-level talking points, op-eds, press releases, and feature articles that effectively communicate DHS CP3's mission and objectives to diverse audiences.+ Information Analysis: Analyze complex government information, reports, and briefings to identify core themes and messages. Synthesize this information into accessible, engaging content.+ Public Communication: Craft compelling and clear communications that enhance public understanding of DHS CP3's initiatives, policies, and objectives.+ Editorial Oversight: Review and edit content produced by other team members or departments to ensure consistency, accuracy, and adherence to the organization's communication standards.+ Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with senior officials, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to gather insights and feedback, ensuring that content reflects current priorities and messaging strategies.+ Research and Fact-Checking: Conduct thorough research and fact-checking to ensure the accuracy and reliability of all written materials.+ Media Relations: Support media outreach efforts by preparing press materials and assisting in the development of strategic communication plans.Qualifications:+ Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, English, Political Science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.+ Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of professional writing experience, with a focus on high-level government or public sector communications.+ Skills:+ Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong portfolio of relevant work.+ Ability to translate complex technical and policy information into clear and engaging content for a general audience.+ Strong understanding of public diplomacy and media relations.+ Excellent research skills with the ability to synthesize information from various sources.+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with content management systems.+ Attributes:+ Strong attention to detail and accuracy.+ Excellent organizational and time-management skills.+ Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.+ Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretionCulture:
