The position oversees and directs digital and print marketing, media relations, external and internal communications including crisis management, brand management, content strategy development and execution, and events management for the School. The successful candidate will be able to articulate the School’s vision for its brand presence in consultation with school leadership, and develop partnerships with various constituents across the University and the School including the Office of the Dean, the Office of Admissions, and Development and Alumni Relations to both market the School’s academic offerings, and support the messaging of the School’s mission, vision, values and strategic plan. The role oversees and directs the strategy for optimizing the School’s website, use of social media and other digital tools. The position oversees the departmental budget and supervises staff of eight including five direct reports and participates in various school and University committees.Job DescriptionThe Executive Director of Marketing, Communications and Events creates plans, formulates strategies and oversees the execution of all marketing and communications for Penn Nursing. They support the Office of Admissions in the recruitment of prospective students through the development and management of marketing campaigns and corresponding print and digital collateral, and supports Penn Nursing’s Development and Alumni Relations needs, including prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and retention via such vehicles as individual case for support materials, campaign and/or other donor marketing materials.Working with internal key players, as well as University Communications as needed, the Executive Director supports the School’s mission/vision by creating, managing, and elevating Penn Nursing’s brand via multi-module vehicles. They are responsible for overseeing and executing strategies for public and media relations, including crisis communications, social media, and optimization of the School website. The Executive Director highlights and illuminates Nursing’s strategic objectives and goals to key external audiences, while also supporting the initiation and coordination of internal School communications. Toward this end, they will oversee a school-wide communications committee to spearhead consistent branding and communications practices, including SharePoint, the School’s web platform for internal communications. They assign and oversee day-to-day operations of an eight-person marketing and communications team, five of whom are direct reports - one of those whom serves as the Dean’s Chief Writer. They are responsible for managing the department budget. Finally, they will sit on committees as necessary, including the Senior Administrative Leadership Team and the commencement planning/implementation team.The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the organization's Events team and ensuring the successful planning, execution, and evaluation of a diverse range of events. In this capacity, the Executive Director will provide leadership and guidance to the Events team, ensure proper event planning and execution, ensure vendor relationships are maintained, provide risk management guidance, and participate in the evaluation and reporting of metrics related to events.
