Communications Marketing Director: Institutional Advancement**POSITION DETAILS**York College, founded in 1966, is a center of academic excellence in the heart of Jamaica, Queens. The incumbent will serve as the College’s chief writer, editor, content creator, and strategist. The successful candidate will direct all communications-related initiatives, both internal and external, across multiple platforms and formats. The Communications and Marketing Director will collaborate with a talented team of Marketing and Advancement professionals across the College. Above all, the incumbent must believe in the mission of York and, always, go beyond mere compliance to build, maintain, and advance a truly aware and inclusive campus culture centered on belonging and equity.Reporting directly to the President, the Communications and Marketing Director will work across the College to ensure that the public and its diverse constituents are made fully aware of the college’s goals, resources, and strengths.Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to:-Develop strategic and comprehensive internal and external communication plans to support institution and division goals and priorities.-Oversee editorial content for marketing materials; write and edit stories and articles of varying lengths for diverse print and digital media platforms including newsletters, annual reports, and blogs. Deliver greater visibility of the York brand within the New York City and national media markets through a comprehensive digital, social, and traditional media strategy.-Research and recommend positions, policies, and communications strategies for executive leadership and draft remarks, speeches, op-eds, and other high-profile communications. Position the institution as a leader for student success, equity, and driver of social and economic mobility.-Collaborate with internal creative resources, including graphic designers to manage print and digital projects from conception to completion. Herald the success of the institution through strategic storytelling across multiple platforms and formats, including video and podcast.-Manage crisis situations and communicate clearly and accurately about complex and/or sensitive issues, with the ability to practice a high-level of confidentiality.-Research and recommend positions, policies, and communications strategies for executive speeches and other communications.-Plan and oversee the implementation of media and key stakeholder events. Promote students, faculty, staff, alumni, donor accomplishments and contributions through the use of data to support fundraising efforts; ensure the College is understanding of and responsive to the changing needs of its internal and external communities; celebrate and promote the values and practices that further the organization’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and a “culture of care;”-Oversee production activities, including workflows and deadlines of editorial services to ensure quality and timely completion of projects.-Oversee editorial content for marketing materials; write and edit stories and articles of varying lengths for diverse print and digital media platforms including newsletters, annual reports, and blogs.Position is office-based (9am-5pm). The availability of nights and weekends as needed to meet departmental deadlines and urgent priorities is required.**QUALIFICATIONS**Bachelor’s degree and eight years’ related experience required.Exceptional written communication skills.Broad and deep knowledge of media relations, content development, internal communications, and public relations, executive speechwriting, communications and messaging.Experience with social, web, print, and video production are essential. Strong leadership skills are required with a demonstrated ability to lead an editorial and video production team.Experience with crisis communications.Experience working with video production, social and new media, web and printExperience building and leading a team of communications professionals within a large, complex organization or University system.Demonstrated ability to build consensus and manage complex projects from concept through completion.Demonstrated ability to work around issues of equity, diversity and inclusion.Higher Education experience is strongly preferred.**CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW**Develops, implements, and oversees College-wide marketing plans to achieve institutional goals.- Designs and executes a comprehensive strategic plan for marketing, advertising and communications- Develops overall advertising and media strategies to achieve image, awareness, enrollment, recruiting, and/or fundraising goals- Provide professional and managerial oversight of a broad range of marketing programs and tools, including digital, print, mail, broadcast, social networking, and other media- Manages and develops internal staff and external resources- Develops and analyzes key metrics of marketing effectiveness, as well as budgets and costs related to marketing programs and campaigns- Performs related duties as assigned.**CUNY TITLE**Higher Education Officer**FLSA**Exempt**COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS**$119,995 - $129,310 - Salary commensurate with education and experience.CUNY's benefits contribute significantly to total compensation, supporting health and wellness, financial well-being, and professional development.
