Position InformationJob Title Welcome Center Receptionist/Marketing Office AssistantJob DescriptionProvides reception services for the West Burlington Campus and operates the college telephone system for all SCC sites. Also provides limited clerical services. Duties include, but are not limited to: guest reception, telephone systems operation, and clerical tasks.This is a full-time position with an hourly wage of $15.00. Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance, $50,000 life insurance, long-term disability, paid sick leave, paid vacation, paid spring and holiday breaks and participation in IPERS or TIAA retirement plan.Terms of employment are per bargaining agreement between SCC Board of Trustees and the SCCESA , employment contract and relevant policies and guidelines of the Board of Trustees. Upholds college policies and procedures and supports and participates in college-wide initiatives. Actively promotes a positive image for the college district. Supports SCC’s mission, vision, values and goals.Essential Duties SummaryResponsibilities:Demonstrate commitment to the comprehensive community college philosophy.Follow College policies and procedures.Maintain college telephone switchboard system. Understand functionality and operations for efficient, accurate communication routing for internal and external audiences.Project a knowledgeable and positive image when greeting visitors to the College and responding to inquiries.Stay current with knowledge of College personnel and their assigned responsibilities for proper routing of inquiries.Provide general administrative and marketing support for the marketing office.Manage college general promotional item efforts: maintain inventories, serve as point of contact for donations, track requests, fulfill approved requests, work with vendors to coordinate selection, ordering, and purchasing of items for general marketing use and internal stakeholder use.Provide occasional overflow support for the Admissions & Testing office.Contact students and staff via phone, email, or in person as directed.Provide occasional clerical support for internal departments and prepare bulk mailings of promotional collateral according to postal requirements.Serve as lost and found center; notify students and personnel when such items are identifiable as to ownership.Monitor emergency weather notification warning system and notify administrative offices of such warning.Monitor security cameras, alert appropriate staff or security as needed.Provide clerical services to faculty and staff as directed.Serve as contact person regarding vending machine malfunctions.Monitor welcome center art gallery – observe hours of operation, monitor visitor traffic, provide basic support and assistance as needed.Maintain instructor absentee online list.Distribute materials (tests, books hand-outs, notebooks, etc.) to students as requested.Work closely with maintenance staff and campus security for monitoring and management of fire/emergency alarm system.Use the campus emergency PA system as necessary.Handle and receive money transactions as needed.Coordinate relief for phone coverage as needed.Other duties as assigned.Required QualificationsEducation:High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience:Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills, including telephone etiquette and guest relations.Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.Strong customer service skills and ability to work well under pressure.Experience showing initiative to complete tasks and projects in an unsupervised setting with frequent interruptions.Ability to:Operate and maintain standard office equipment and filing systems.Problem-solve for visitors, callers, and colleagues.Maintain confidentiality.Work with people of diverse background and needs.Familiarity with SCC and the mission of a community college.Preferred QualificationsEducation:AA degree or AAS in Office Administration or business administration preferred.Experience:Working in a front line, public customer service office setting preferred.Physical DemandsEEO Statement SummaryIt is the policy of Southeastern Community College not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, employment, sexual orientation, gender identity, creed, religion, and actual or potential parental, family or marital status in its programs, activities, or employment practices as required by the Iowa Code §§ 216.6 and 216.9, Titles VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (42 U.S.C. §§ 2000d and 2000e), the Equal Pay Act of 1973 (29 U.S.C. § 206, et seq.), Title IX (Educational Amendments, 20 U.S.C. §§ 1681 – 1688), Section 504 (Rehabilitation Act of 1973, 29 U.S.C. § 794), and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (42 U.S.C. § 12101, et seq.).Individuals having questions or complaints related to compliance with this policy should contact Title IX / Equity Coordinator, Southeastern Community College, 1500 W.
