Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from semester to semester depending on the needs of the department.Position Titles:
Lecturer, Lecturer in Summer Sessions.Job Duties:Successful applicants will teach in CWP's Reading and Composition sequence or other CWP courses in writing, reading, and oral communication. They will have complete responsibility for classes to include teaching in a classroom environment, meeting with students during scheduled weekly office hours and by appointment, and grading student work.Foreign applicants must also have permission to work in the U.S. by start date.UC lecturers are academic appointees and are represented by an exclusive bargaining agent, University Council - American Federation of Teachers (UC-AFT). (required at time of start)Completion of advanced degree and three years of university-level teaching experience are required. International applicants must also have permission to work in the U.S. by start date. We cannot sponsor US visas for employment.Preferred qualificationsA Ph.D., M.F.A., or equivalent international degree in one of the following fields:- composition studies- rhetoric and composition- digital rhetoric- second-language writing/ESL/applied linguistics- education- creative writing- journalism- social sciences- humanitiesThree or more years of experience teaching university-level composition, creative writing, or other university writing. Evidence of ongoing professional development. Evidence of clear communication skills as presented in application materials.Application Requirements
