Senior User Experience Designer

Role: Senior UX / Graphic DesignerJob Type: FreelanceRate: $42-$47/hr DOEStart Date: Interviewing nowLocation: Preference for onsite in San Diego, but open to remote candidates, ideally in PSTOur startup client in the wearable/health space is in need of a Senior UX / Graphic Designer to join their team for a 6+ month contract, 40 hours/week with the intent to convert to full-time for the right fit.The primary responsibilities for this Senior UX / Graphic Designer role include:- Oversee and drive design efforts across UX/UI/ID- Conduct and apply advanced research to inform design strategy- Lead complex design projects from concept to execution, including usability testing, A/B testing, user journey mapping, to wireframing, creating user flows, and high-fidelity prototyping- Define and drive UX architecture and UI flow for major product initiatives- Present and justify design decisions to senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams- Mentor and develop the skills of entry and intermediate-level designers- Collaborate closely with other departments, including engineering and regulatory teams, to ensure cohesive and compliant design outcomes- Lead user testing and studies, providing strategic insights to improve product designs- Develop design documentation to support regulatory needs- Assist on brand and marketing projects as needed.The successful Senior UX / Graphic Designer has:-Bachelor's degree in UX, Product Design, Graphic Design, or a related field (Master's preferred- 7-10 years of experience leading complex UX/UI design projects across multiple platforms- Experience in designing for multiple devices and platforms (web, mobile, desktop)- Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Figma, and Sketch- Figma, Jira, Confluence- Proven ability to think strategically and align design initiatives with business goals- Experience in working with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure design intent and quality are maintained throughout the development process
