Job description:
As a Senior PV Designer at Alt-Solar (under Alt-Group), you'll be a key player in shaping the future of solar energy. You'll leverage your expertise to design and develop high-performance PV systems, ensuring optimal energy production and client satisfaction. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects, collaborate with a passionate team, and make a real difference in promoting sustainable solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop comprehensive PV system designs, including system layouts, electrical single-line diagrams, and detailed equipment specifications. This includes a strong understanding of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and their integration into PV projects.
Conduct thorough technical feasibility for potential PV installations.
Utilise industry-leading PV design software (e.g., PVSOL, PVSyst) to create efficient and cost-effective system designs.
Perform in-depth energy production analyses using PVSOL to optimize system performance and maximise project returns.
Ensure designs comply with all relevant UK regulations, codes, and safety standards for PV installations.
Collaborate closely with the Sales and Business Development teams to provide technical support, prepare proposals, and assist with client consultations by explaining technical details from PVSOL reports.
Utilise your knowledge of BESS sizing, shading analysis, and system optimisation to create the best solutions for clients.
Oversee and mentor junior PV designers, ensuring the quality and accuracy of their work.
Prepare and review technical documentation, including reports, proposals, and construction drawings.
Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in PV technology, design best practices, industry trends, and different technologies for PV modules, inverters and storage devices.
Present technical information to internal and external stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
Work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a closely related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in photovoltaic system design and engineering.
Proven track record of successfully designing and delivering high-performance PV systems.
Proficiency in industry-standard PV design software (e.g., PVSOL, AutoCAD).
Strong understanding of electrical principles, with a focus on DC systems.
In-depth knowledge of UK regulations, codes, and safety standards for PV installations.
Good understanding of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and their role in PV projects.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritise tasks under pressure.
Fast learner with a desire to stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in PV technology.
