I. Job Function

Working with the executive team to: A) develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy designed to elevate the awareness of the Company in its service areas, i.e., social media, website, TV/radio, collateral materials and B) working with Company staff and consultants, plan, develop, coordinate, and direct the fundraising/development activities for the Company. This shall include corporate and individual giving, special events, fundraising campaigns, capital projects, endowments, planned giving, and grants.

II. Position Functions and Responsibilities

Marketing and Communication (75%)

Works directly with other company officers and directors, including the CEO, CFO the HR Director, and Board members to achieve short and long-term strategic goals

Develops and communicates a clear and consistent corporate image to the public and stakeholders via all media platforms, i.e., social, print, broadcast

Works directly with and learns from the organization’s consultants to foster closer relationships with current and potential donors

Develops a strong understanding of the organization’s current and historical initiatives and minor events to better promote individualized stories of success

Develops a comprehensive fundraising strategy, with emphasis on individual donors, corporate partners, and foundations

Oversees cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of corporate and individual donors and prospective donors, gift recognition, thank you letters, and acknowledgment materials for periodic appeal letters

Directs the growth, promotion, and tracking of the donation/contribution accounts, capital campaigns, and planned giving

Coordinates relationships with members of the media; assists in development of press releases when needed.

Updates the organization’s website

Other duties as assigned pertinent to the mission of the Company and its fundraising and communications in the communities it serves

Administration (25%)

Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information regarding any CES records and data

Facilitates organization of electronic marketing materials for future use (i.e. photos, templates, etc.)

Coordinate/author grant proposals, including identifying and researching appropriate prospects that align with the Company’s strategic plan

Tracks grant reporting deadlines; compiles grant reports

Oversees collection and management of donor information and database, to include database entries for all gifts, pledges, notes, contacts, and other information

Works with CFO to develop departmental budget and compliance to same

Carry out other duties as assigned by the President or position supervisor

III. Skills/Knowledge Required:

Fundraising abilities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

Strong relationship building skills- ability to engage donors (face-to-face & through electronic & print media)

Strong understanding of various social media platforms and social media marketing strategy

Ability to multitask and to work under deadlines

Strong presentation and public speaking skills

Proficient with Microsoft Office and ideally with: electronic donor database (i.e. Little Green Light), design/layout software (i.e. Adobe or Canva or similar), etc.

Ability to design and publish materials in-house as needed

Ability to modify and update organization website regularly

Ability to maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and attend to details. Ability to prepare a budget for this position/department

Regular attendance is an essential job function. The position will typically work 40 hours per week and may be required to work frequently outside core business hours as needed to meet deadlines

Frequent extended hours in front of a computer screen (provided by CES)

Some lifting of boxes may be necessary – up to 30 lbs.

Adheres to all company policies and procedures and maintains a safe work environment

Ability to skillfully manage public relations, difficult situations, and complaints

Travel is required; up to 25% of work hours. A valid driver’s license is required and must be insurable through CES carrier

V. Education/experience

Bachelor’s degree in related field from accredited college or university

2-4 years in development, marketing, or other related field.

Experienced in or knowledgeable in the coordination of fundraising activities
