What You’ll Do:
1. The Director of Music Ministry at Sacred Heart is responsible for overseeing all aspects of liturgical music for parish
liturgies.
2. Coordinates and suggests to the pastor or his delegate appropriate selections of Ordinaries, Propers, hymns, polyphony,
chants, and choral pieces for all parish and school liturgies.
3. Prepares and distributes sheet music and worship aids to participants (cantors, instrumentalists, choir members, and
congregation.)
4. Leads liturgical music as a conductor, cantor, and accompanist.
5. Directs the choir, assembly, and musicians at liturgies (weekend liturgies, holy days of obligation, weddings, funerals,
and major events.)
6. Recruits, schedules, rehearses, and supervises cantors, choirs, and instrumentalists for all liturgies.
What You’ll Bring:
• Bachelor’s degree in music or related field.
• Proven experience as a Director of Music or similar role in a Catholic Church.
• Exceptional proficiency in piano; organ preferred.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively convey musical direction.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
• Proficiency in liturgical principles and the repertory of varied styles of sacred music—especially Roman Catholic musical
styles and traditions.
• Faith-filled: Practicing Catholic with a strong understanding of Catholic teachings, traditions, and values.
• Joyful Spirit: A collaborative attitude to work seamlessly within the parish.
