This position will drive the advancement of cutting-edge technologies for bridges, tunnels, and other transportation structures related to BIM, software, automation, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. Leveraging technical expertise and effective communication, the Technical Director collaborates across the company to prioritize and lead strategic initiatives to advance technology development and adoption to improve operational efficiency in the execution of projects. Innovative approaches, industry engagement, and strategic partnerships internally and externally are key to identifying new clients and capturing contract opportunities in emerging bridge design and asset management technologies. Additionally, the Technical Director champions and advances Michael Baker International’s industry leadership in full life cycle BIM for asset management and complex bridges. The position will establish a professional reputation at local, regional, and national levels while guiding staff in their career development.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESContribute to the growth, capture, and delivery of professional services contracts in advancing bridge technologiesCollaborate with Bridge Practice Leadership, Bridge Technology/Software team, Bridge Practice Engineers, Consulting and Technology Solutions, IT, and other teams ensuring alignment of technology strategies and implementation across the organization and supporting development and execution of a vision for advancing bridge technologies within Michael Baker InternationalDrive strategic initiatives that position us as industry leaders in technology adoptionManage the identification, prioritization, and development of key technology initiatives implementing software development, automation, AI, and machine learning and prioritize based on impact and feasibility to optimize project workflows and resource allocationProvide leadership for development and implementation of BIM strategies for the full bridge life cycle championing digital information management for bridge structuresBuild and maintain effective and enduring relationships across Michael Baker and external organizationsProvide assistance related to pursuits, lending technical input to strategy and proposal developmentProvide technical and management expertise and guidance to staff; provide advocacy and technical reassurance to Michael Baker clients and stakeholders in emerging technology-driven solutions for bridgesImplement innovation in technical solutions and undertake technical reviews for deliverablesAdvise clients on technology-driven solutions within the area of subject matter expertiseMaintain awareness of relevant technical developments and seek opportunities to develop a professional profile and thought leadership through presentations at relevant conferences/meetings; actively participate in technical committees for industry organizations and standards in advancing bridge technologiesMonitor QA/QC procedures and client requirements for Quality in coordination with the appropriate members of the quality assurance teamHelp develop work standards and Best Practices across the company.Assist in the development of firm-wide talent through coaching and mentoring and identification of technical resources within area of subject matter expertisePROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil/structural engineering, engineering management, or similar degree15+ years of relevant experience in bridge engineering and technology leadershipConsidered a industry leaderPassion for advancing technology in bridge engineeringAbility to effectively network and influence at peer levelsEntrepreneurial spirit and the drive to be a leader in the company and technology innovation championAbility to develop creative and effective technology-driven solutions for complex challengesSolid communication and relationship building skills, both internally and externallyCOMPENSATIONThe approximate compensation range for this position is $190,000 to $235,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.#LI-JR1
