1.Consult with clients to determine their requirements for different concepts2.Research and develop knitwear products for clients' desired apparel collection3.Sketch design ideas and create CAD (Computer Automated Design) and CLO 3D renderings to provide visuals of the collection4.Research new materials (yarns) by attending yarn fairs in New York and Italy;5.Create physical prototypes (knitted swatches and garment drapings)6.Examine materials (yarns) and manufacturing methods (stitches and finishing) 7.Work together with technical designers to build the products8.Communicate with overseas factories to ensure the samples are correctly made 9.Attend fittings and provide professional comments for design and fit10.Communicate with merchandising and production team to solve any design related issues11.Update flat sketches and colored CADs as changes happen throughout the process12.Keep an organized archive of previous design samples and swatches for future reference13.Present the designs and demonstrate prototypes to Angora Group's clients for approvalPosition requires Bachelors in Fashion Design and Society or Textile Design plus 3 years’ experience in technical apparel design in the Job Offered (Sweater Designer) that includes designing for four seasons (Spring/Summer (SS), Autumn/Winter (AW), Resort/Cruise and Pre-Fall); creating technical drawings (flat sketches and CAD renderings); experience with European mills and factories in sourcing materials and producing samples; creating physical prototypes; knowledge of pattern grading, construction standards and manufacturing methods; creating and maintaining archives of line sheets and design samples; Ability to analyze and recreate stitches from reference images and samples; Profound understanding of fiber contents and characteristics of natural yarn qualities (cashmere, alpaca, merino wool, cotton, linen) and synthethic qualities (polyester, polyamide, viscose, rayon, acrylic, acetate) and spinning methods (worsted, wollen, roving, chainette, slub, airwool) and dying methods (yarn dye, top dye, space dye, printed); working with various different yarn sizes (i.e. 10000 nm to 0.1 nm) knitting machine gauges (1.5 gg to 18 gg); knowledge of relationship between yarn sizes and gauges (for example 2/48 nm yarn size is suitable for 1416 gg machine); demonstrated proficiency with Procreate, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point, Google Sheets, Google SlideItaly once per year for Yarn Collection Shows, travel to Peru once per year for visiting sweater and knit factories.
