Reporting to the Associate Director of Annual Giving, Direct Marketing, the Assistant Director of Annual Giving, Direct Marketing will assist the Associate Director in University Development's Carolina Annual Giving office through the planning and implementation of direct marketing strategies. Strategies will target annual giving prospects, alumni, and donors through digital outreach strategies to acquire, renew/retain, reactivate, and upgrade donors. Strategies may include direct mail, email, social media, website, and engagement center management. This position will have direct contact with Carolina prospects, University Development colleagues, school and unit colleagues, donors, Development Communications, and external vendors.

Education and Experience:Preferably higher education development, direct marketing for higher education or related experience.

Essential Skills:Qualified candidates must demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills with both internal and external audiences, including editing skills and attention to detail. Candidates should be able to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team, maintain confidentiality, and possess strong project management skills, enabling them to organize and work on multiple and competing projects simultaneously. Superior customer service skills for prospects and donors are essential.A working knowledge of the MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, and Access, is required, as well as familiarity with common social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Experience with donor CRMs (e.g., Blackbaud), marketing automation platforms (e.g., Salesforce), crowdfunding platforms (e.g., Give Campus), project management tools (e.g., Asana), and Adobe Design Suite is preferred. Experience handling, analyzing, and manipulating data is also highly preferred.Candidates should have the ability to interact effectively in a comprehensive research university setting and work collaboratively with multiple campus departments, including consultation and advisement of constituent school and unit colleagues. A high energy level, a strong drive to be successful, and the ability to think logically and strategically are also essential.
