Designer on the Girls and Preschool team

for our headquarters in Santa Monica, CA. This position will report to the Senior Director of Design and support toy development across various collections, from design concept all the way to production.

Responsibilities include:Understand product design and design languageCreate clear product line presentations for internal and outside review through sketches, Illustrator & Photoshop, and mock-upsCommunicate clearly with HK engineers, outside vendors, and licensorsProvide art direction/overlays to outsourced talent and HK engineers as neededStrong soft lines skills; able to create detailed spec sheets and repeat patterns for print productionWork unsupervised and anticipate team/project needsOwnership of projects with ability to guide teams from concept to finished productSupport design and packaging teams in setting up showroom displays, archiving, and shipping productBrainstorming, trend hunting and research for new ideasSkills & Experience required:Degree in Toy Design, Illustration or Industrial DesignPractical product design experience in toy industry; prefer girl’s toys experience, 4+ years practical experienceUnderstands direction, accepts feedback, and is proactiveStrong Illustrator and Photoshop skills
