SALARY : $76,194 – $84,150

OVERVIEW

The Cook County Office of the President is seeking a Digital Marketing Specialist to join our team. This person will generate written content, manage posts, and monitor engagement with channels. Work collaboratively with other Bureaus/Departments to publish digital content. Use analytics from each platform to adapt and refine strategy over time. Collaborate with key stakeholders, staff, and departments to be cognizant of important Bureau/Department news, developments, and initiatives.

ROLE SUMMARY

Assist in the development of media strategy and support the implementation of the social media strategy for each platform. Generate written content, manage posts, and monitor engagement with channels. Work collaboratively with other Bureaus/Departments to publish digital content. Use analytics from each platform to adapt and refine strategy over time. Collaborate with key stakeholders, staff, and departments to be cognizant of important Bureau/Department news, developments, and initiatives.

This position is in the Office of the Cook County Board President. As such, this position involves policymaking or implementation directly related to the administration’s political and policy views, and/or requires a high level of confidentiality such that political affiliation is an appropriate consideration for the effective performance of the job.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :

Oversee, draft content, and manage multiple social media accounts.

Support the design and implementation of social media strategy through research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging, and audience identification.

Track, analyze, and evaluate key social media data metrics and utilize such information to identify future social media campaign improvements.

Support the development and implementation of public relations and marketing campaigns, educational programs, and other initiatives designed to inform, educate, and engage the public.

Create a variety of communications materials for use in social media, traditional media, digital, print, and other channels, as appropriate.

Communicate with team members to understand and highlight projects happening throughout the Bureau/Department.

Manage digital assets and provide resources and templates to maintain brand consistency.

Monitor social media channels on each platform and address public inquiries as they arise. Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

Ability to provide moderate-level insight, advice and expertise to other professionals, management, and external contacts in an assigned functional area.

Ability to operate as a team player and communicate specialized knowledge to team members, managers, and external stakeholders.

Knowledge of moderately complex principles and practices for a specialized area of focus.

Ability to work on multiple projects, work within tight deadlines and prioritize work as necessary.

Ability to speak before groups of all levels on a variety of subject matters relating to social media topics.

Knowledge of social media platforms and strategy, including but not limited to: LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook.

Skilled in strategic communication, writing, communicating complex information in a concise and digestible format.

Ability to adapt changes in processes and remain flexible and open to new ideas as social media platforms evolve.

Ability to handle sensitive public relations matters.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university plus a minimum of three (3) years of experience in public administration, communications, or journalism, OR an equivalent combination of professional work experience, training, and education.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

Sedentary Work

Sedentary Work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT : Pursuant to the Shakman Consent Decree, Supplemental Relief Order, and the Cook County Personnel this position is exempt from the County’s career service rules, is at-will and political reasons or factors may be considered when taking any employment action. As an employee in a Shakman Exempt position, if you do not currently live in Cook County, you will have six (6) months from date of hire to establish actual residency within Cook County.
