Want to apply Read all the information about this position below, then hit the apply button.The University of the District of Columbia, College of Arts and Sciences, Division of Arts and Humanities, and English Program is seeking an accomplished community writing specialist at the assistant – or associate professor level. The responsibilities of the position include teaching undergraduate courses in community writing, composition, as well as graduate writing and courses within the candidate’s supporting areas of expertise. Faculty will teach face to face with opportunities to develop online, hybrid, and hyflex options. The prevailing faculty member will assist the English program with assessment and ongoing curricular revision to meet changing demands of twenty-first century English programs, with an emphasis upon the service learning and community engagement essential to community writing. This includes supporting and developing intersections and cross-listings with other programs in the division, particularly the journalism concentration in Digital Media and graphic design in Arts. This faculty member will foster an environment of professionalism and collaboration, in the program and across the division, to better share the importance and beauty of the fine arts and humanities with the larger campus community. Other duties include serving on program, division, college, and/or university committees, maintaining an active creative- and research agenda, working collaboratively with program and division faculty, performing service, administrative, and assessment-related tasks to enhance the quality of the program. Engagement in diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, research, and service is strongly preferred.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Provides student supports (advising, mentoring, co-curricular design) across English BA degreeTeaches composition in the Interdisciplinary General Education Program (IGED)Supports student writing supports across all undergraduate and graduate degreesTeach undergraduate courses in community writing, community literacy, social activism, and writing for new media and journalismAbility to teach courses intersecting with two of the following areas is preferred: British Literature, Diaspora and Transatlantic Studies, and World LiteratureDevelop new course offerings and co-curricular engagements, particularly service-learning opportunities and community engagement, that serve students across the Division of Arts and HumanitiesParticipate in curriculum review, assessment, and ongoing development of curriculumMaintain a productive program of research and creative activity and publicationProvide service to the university, college, division, program, and professionMinimum Job Requirements:PhD in English or related field, or MFAAt least 3 years of experience teaching at the college levelEvidence of creative and scholarly publications and a well-developed research platformEvidence of community service and community-focused writing preferredActive visibility within professional networksTo apply:
