And we’ll do it with the utmost integrity, and in an environment where everyone is seen, heard and feels like they belong.Join Team Amex and let's lead the way together.The American Express Corporate Affairs & Communications (CA&C) team is a strategic function that works to enhance and protect the continued strength of the American Express brand through public relations, social media and content, colleague communications and corporate sustainability (CS) initiatives.This NYC-based position will be an integral member of the CA&C team supporting Social Impact communications. The role will help manage American Express' internal and external communications efforts in support of the company's Environmental Social Governance (ESG) and Corporate Sustainability efforts.This individual will help support global communications strategy that enhances American Express' profile as a social impact leader through proactive media relations, thought leadership, stakeholder engagement and community impact program communications. The goal is to communicate American Express' ESG strategy, initiatives, and progress to a global audience of colleagues, media, customers, shareholders, and investors.This role is responsible for effective external public affairs and colleague communications activities. This person will also provide counsel to key business partners, identify opportunities to share news about initiatives, create and execute proactive media strategies, and manage issues to protect and enhance the American Express brand. The manager will work closely with press on behalf of the company and will work alongside CA&C teams. This role will report to the U.S.-based Vice President of Social Impact Communications.**How will you make an impact in this role?**+ Support the strategic goals of ESG and CS by helping to create and implement compelling communications programs, content, and campaigns with internal and external audiences.+ Develop strong relationships with press and industry stakeholders to promote advancements and executive perspectives.+ Identify unique and newsworthy opportunities to promote programming.+ Collaborate with colleagues globally to ensure alignment of communications activities across the business.+ Support involvement with key industry engagement groups and conferences, ensuring our executives have a public voice on important industry trends and topics.+ Provide communications counsel and guidance to business leaders.+ Monitor competitor and industry-level activities, including support for small businesses and ESG.+ Work with colleagues globally to ensure priorities are accurately and consistently represented through press announcements and internal initiatives in local markets.+ Help oversee and manage U.S.-based PR agency.**Minimum Qualifications**+ Minimum of five to seven years’ public relations experience.+ ESG and CS industry experience required.+ Superior written, verbal and media relations skills, with proven media relations results.+ Proven ability to craft and implement effective communications plans.+ Proven ability to quickly learn and absorb complex and technical subjects and translate material into comprehensive and easy to understand communications messages.+ Creativity in developing and managing stories with national, local, and trade press.+ Ability to think independently, quickly, and apply good judgment.+ Needs to be a self-starter, good project manager, and able to work independently, while operating as a team player adaptable to diverse group of colleagues and clients.+ Strong attention to detail and organization.**Preferred Qualification**+ Proven experience in managing PR agencies and/or teams; agency experience.**Qualifications**Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually bonus benefitsThe above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
