See how your contributions will help transform vision into reality:****Position Overview:**The Boating Intelligence (BI) Design Lab is seeking a motivated and talented Mechanical Engineer Intern to join our dynamic team. You will be involved in various stages of product development, from initial concept through to final testing and validation. You will utilize your technical skills and creativity to contribute to the design of high-quality, reliable, and efficient marine products. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers and product designers, to integrate mechanical designs into the overall product architecture.In addition to technical responsibilities, you will be expected to perform analysis, generate documentation, and provide feedback for iterative design enhancements. You will participate in prototype development and testing, offering valuable insights to improve product performance. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical design principles, proficiency in CAD software, and a basic knowledge of sensor technology and testing methodologies.**At Brunswick, we have passion for our work and a distinct ability to deliver.****Essential Functions:**+ Utilize 3D CAD software to create and modify engineering designs.+ Research and develop protypes for marine products.+ Create test plans for benchmarking design and assemblies.+ Prepare detailed documentation, including design specifications, assembly instructions, and maintenance guides.**Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.****Required Qualifications:**+ To be considered for the internship, candidates must have permanent US Work authorization.+ Current enrollment in anengineering or relevant Bachelor’sprogram at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign.+ Basic understanding of mechanical principles and manufacturing processes.+ Proficiency with CAD modelling software such as SolidWorks, CREO, NX, etc.**Preferred Qualifications:**+ Experience with rapid prototyping techniques and tools such as 3D printing.+ Familiarity with some level of programming micro-controllers like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc.**Travel Requirements** **:**No travel required.**Working Conditions:****Learning Opportunities:** Our internships are designed to provide hands-on experience in a professional setting. You will work alongside experienced professionals and get a chance to apply your academic knowledge to real-world tasks.**Project Work:** The work environment is supportive, collaborative, and conducive to learning. Interns typically work on specific projects or tasks that contribute to the organization’s goals. This may range from supporting larger projects to handling smaller, individual assignments.**Hours:** Interns must work at least 8 hours in person at the lab each week during the fall and spring terms. You may work up to 20 hours maximum. During summer, interns are expected to work 40 hours in person at the lab each week.**Feedback and Performance Reviews:** As an intern, you will receive feedback and performance reviews throughout your assignment.
