This role encompasses not only procurement but also the supervision of essential processes related to cataloging, materials preservation, and repair. Additionally, the incumbent will oversee the management of the Maine annex section of the library's reserve collection.Key Responsibilities:+ Budget Management: Lead the management of the library's collection and serials budget, including the selection and ordering of materials, with an emphasis on Maine-related content. Authorize expenditures that significantly impact the library's financial resources.+ Preservation Budget: Oversee the allocation and management of the budget for preservation activities, ensuring the long-term health of the library's collections.+ Workflow Supervision: Establish workflows and prioritize the tasks of three key technical services staff to ensure the efficient intake, processing, and care of library collections.+ Contract and Order Handling: Input Advantage contracts and orders, making independent decisions regarding the types of orders placed. Provide guidance to employees on their purchasing decisions.+ Departmental Decisions: Make departmental decisions and recommendations related to office equipment, supplies, facility, and furniture requests for the department.Requirements:+ Library Systems Proficiency: Proficient in library systems and collections software used for the acquisition and management of library books and materials.+ Team Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise a team involved in complex workflows related to library collections.+ Collaborative Skills: Effective at working both independently and as part of a team, with the ability to influence others in various units of the library without formal authority.+ Time Management: Excellent time management skills, capable of working efficiently under pressure and multitasking to meet deadlines.+ Self-Directed: Self-directed work style, with strong organizational and prioritization skills, utilizing critical thinking.+ Adaptability: Comfortable working in an environment with tasks that may at times be ambiguous and open to learning and applying new skills.+ Confidentiality: Able to navigate complex and sensitive situations while maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information, such as contracts and purchasing details.+ Software Proficiency: Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software (Word and Excel), and willingness to learn and become proficient in other software systems.+ Process Improvement: Open to pursuing opportunities for process improvement to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of library operations.+ Flexible: Willingness to perform other duties as needed to support the library's mission and goals.
