Mold Design Position Summary:The Mold Designer position, is a challenging position with many responsibilities.

Mold Designer Position Responsibilities:Fully Design Plastic Injection Molds/Tools for manufacturing.Proficient with the latest SolidWorks 3D/2D/AssembliesFully support and work with all personnel in their respective departments.Work with customer specifications and site Engineering input to design molds, gages, jigs, and fixtures for plastic and metal parts and assemblies.Participate in design meetings and reviews to present design options, solicit input from others, and critically analyze best available options.Utilize customer drawings/requirements and team input to design tooling to optimize costs associated with tool operation and expected tool life.Originate ideas and incorporates those ideas into designsPrepare and manage final layout of designs as well as assemblies and detail drawings.Proactively communicate design status with production team.Manage design related issues throughout the build process.Advise and inform the Engineering and Quality Departments on necessary changes as appropriateMold designers will prepare prints for all components with proper dimensions needed and distribute them to the appropriate department for manufacturing.Keep abreast of new developments in the field in order to incorporate innovations into the design engineering functionApply CAD tools to maximize productivity in design processFollows safety requirements as outlined in the safety manualPerforms other special projects and duties as assignedMold Designer Experience and Qualifications:SolidWorks modeling is preferred but will train a motivated Molder designer from other platforms.Former/current Tool room, mold maker, or CNC programmer experience is a plus but not required.Two year technical/vocational degree or equivalent formal engineering education preferred but not requiredFive years of plastic injection molding and tooling experienceAble to decide and model electrodes when needed for the tooling.Knowledge of the entire mold design process.3+ years of demonstrable design of plastic injection molds.Thorough knowledge of design tools such as CAD/CAM or other related softwareComprehensive understanding of manufacturing methods and practicesProficient in MS office software applicationsMold Designer

6:30a.m. - 3:30p.m. (Flex) - On-site 100%
