Scope

The objectives of the Graphic Specialist are to provide graphics related service, support, guidance, and expertise related to the printing of folding cartons. The Graphic Specialist will be the main point-of-contact for GPI customers, manufacturing plants and various business units, to provide specifications and materials in a timely fashion. Job activities include interpreting complex business requirements, organizing graphic materials, assessing artwork, providing graphic support, and coordinating production requirements. Daily tasks center on providing job collaboration with Graphic Coordinators, material management, ink color matching, pre-production reviews, proof assessment and system-wide procurement. The ability to work well in a team environment, assess ambiguous information and have a strong drive for results are vital components to the success of this role. The Graphic Specialist must have good color vision, understand color theory, have a working knowledge of G7 and print processes.

Knowledge Base

The ideal candidate will possess solid knowledge of prepress and graphic production systems like Kodak Prinergy and/or Esko solutions and industry standards. Advanced understanding of digital artwork, proofing concepts, CMYK, spot color inks, CAD structural files, along with cause-and-effect scenarios in a print production environment. The ideal candidate must understand industry specifications and best practices for graphic reproduction, such as: G7, FTA, IDEAlliance, CxF & PDF. A combination of skill, training, education, and experience; along with leadership qualities, are essential to fulfill the job requirements for this role.

Position Responsibilities

Act as liaison among GPI, customers, and separators in a graphical capacity

Manage customer expectations and supplier processes to ensure required graphical specifications are honored

Perform job pre-production reviews and obtain approved graphics materials.

Communicate directly with plants and coworkers to ensure that materials are properly prepared, staged and readied for print production.

Travel to customers, suppliers, and GPI locations in support of account administrative requirements and print runs.

Analyze graphic prepress materials and communicate with customers and suppliers regarding adjustments and approvals.

Secure quotations and direct work through S&OS channels when sourcing prepress on behalf of GPI customers.

Maintain and update all corporate and department material databases

Manage and generate ink requests and matches using department ink systems.

Acquire Graphics Requests through CSR’s for graphics related tasks.

Support Graphic Coordinators and all coworkers with proven best practices related to print improvement, quality, consistency & on-time delivery.

Office daily roles and responsibilities

Filing, cleaning and general maintenance of all department systems and equipment

Filing of materials, replacing of printer paper and ink cartridges, cleaning of common areas and general maintenance of department equipment

All other duties as assigned.

Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time.

Skills

Strong understanding of applicable graphics computer software and hardware.

Demonstrated functional/technical knowledge and skills to perform tasks at a high level.

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe graphics software and handheld measurement devices.

Excellent communication skills both written and oral; ability to facilitate agreeable outcomes among customers, suppliers, and GPI interests.

Must have the ability to lift and carry packages and graphic arts supplies.

Experience

Education – Minimum BA degree or a minimum of 5 to 7 years related printing or converting work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay Range: $69,825.00 - $93,135.00
