The Director of Sales works closely with the General Manager to determine appropriate sales strategies in all market segments to maximize hotel revenues which includes meeting space and banquet revenues, contributing to strong profit margins.• Demonstrates positive leadership characteristics that inspire team members to meet and exceed standards, and promote team member empowerment.• Directs the hotel in the development, implementation and achievement of its annual business and marketing plan objectives.• Provides leadership, guidance, and assistance relating to the execution of marketing and sales functions, sales processes and standards as established by the hotel. Attends executive meetings at the property.• Communicates with guests and team members both verbally and in writing to answer questions and provide clear direction in advising and instructing staff in details of work.• Actively involved in the onboarding process of Sales Managers and support staff.• Actively participates in the sales process via customer meetings, entertainment and attendance at client and other relevant industry events.• Gather, organize and disseminate both written and verbal information regarding the specific requirements of client's events to the appropriate departments and individual clients in a prompt, accurate, profitable, pleasant, and professional manner.• Coordinates ongoing research of the travel industry to detect market trends and related information for development of new sales strategies.• Active participation in weekly Revenue Management meetings to make reasonable recommendations to improve potential from various markets.• Provides strategic direction of rate, date and space commitments for group room sales of the property.• Directs coordination of cross-selling, joint marketing initiatives and other hotel/brand synergies to maximize exposure and profitability including agency contact, media planning and hotel communications.• Responsible for developing robust solicitation plans that include target lists for all involved in the sales and events servicing areas.• Monitors the deployment of the sales team and adjusts deployment as needed to achieve targeted revenue goals for the hotel.• Responsible for the assignment and distribution of leads. Provide guidance in prospecting and qualifying potential leads.• Directs the preparation of reports pertaining to the operation of the Sales and Marketing Department to include, but not limited to the annual and monthly Forecast, Marketing Budget, Lead Management System, Booking Report, Delphi Reports, Sales Meetings, and Marketing Meeting Minutes.• Leads weekly Sales meetings to communicate RevPAR performance for the previous week and changes to strategies needed to focus on needs periods.• Prepares and delivers presentation to owners, general managers and other stakeholders that provide insight to performance, strategic plans and tactical execution.• Monitors and responds to guest reviews to positively impact guest satisfaction and reputation management.• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

High school graduate or equivalent required. Minimum of 4 year college degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 10 years experience in the role of Director of Sales preferred.
