About the positionThis position is a part of the Website Services Team within the Computing Services Division of WaTech. The Website Services team builds and maintains complex websites to help agencies better manage, operate, and adapt their business so that they can be responsive to the residents of Washington. This group focuses on delivering website solutions in the Drupal Content Management System (CMS). The team supports over 125 websites for over 40 different organizations within the state.

As a

Drupal Web Developer , you will play a key role in leveraging cutting-edge web technologies to enhance the usability, accessibility, and overall value of the websites our customers rely on. In this role, you will apply your advanced expertise in Drupal web development, focusing on innovative solutions, technical problem-solving, and delivering exceptional customer service.

Duties

Some of what to expect with this role:

Design, develop, and maintain complex websites using the Drupal Content Management System (CMS).Utilize Drupal to develop, support, configure, and enhance web solutions for multiple customers.Provide leadership and senior consultation for large-scale website development projects having important (high risk) statewide impact.Collaborate closely with high-profile customers to analyze requirements, review designs, and iteratively develop functional prototypes and launch-ready websites that align with their business needs and aesthetic preferences.Provide customers with training on managing content within the websites created by WaTech.Regularly engage with customers and their representatives to ensure ongoing satisfaction with WaTech's services.Plan and implement solutions to address customer issues and service requests promptly.Utilize comprehensive knowledge of website functionality to troubleshoot and execute emergency fixes, ensuring websites are fully operational.Review and approve completed websites, ensuring they meet standards for quality control, content accuracy, coding precision, usability, ADA compliance, and user acceptance.Lead efforts to swiftly resolve Tier 2 and Tier 3 tickets for over 125 supported websites.Maintain direct and timely communication with WaTech customers regarding Website Services activities and incidents, both in writing and verbally.Here's what we're looking for:

Three years of information technology experience, which must include:

Experience in technical aspects of website design, layout, and coding, experience writing website programming code from scratch or adapting website software and graphics packages to meet business requirements.Experience programming websites in all the following client-side programming languages: HTML, CSS, JavaScriptExperience programming websites in PHP.

Three years of experience developing and configuring websites using the Drupal 7/10 Content Management System (CMS).Ability to prioritize assignments and tasks between multiple commitments, providing high-level support for more than one project at a time.Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to disseminate information and instructions.Preference may be granted to applicants with the following:

Three years of knowledge and experience in all the following:

Analyzing and designing website in terms of Usability and User Experience.Developing and retrofitting websites for accessibility.Developing mobile responsive websites.Experience working in a high-profile, politically sensitive environment.

Full-time employees who work full monthly schedules qualify for holiday compensation if they are employed before the holiday and are in pay status for at least 80 nonovertime hours during the month of the holiday; or for the entire work shift preceding the holiday.

Part-time employees who are in pay status during the month of the holiday qualify for the holiday on a pro-rata basis. Compensation for holidays (including personal holiday) will be proportionate to the number of hours in pay status in the month to that required for full-time employment, excluding all holiday hours. Sick LeaveFull-time employees earn eight hours of sick leave per month. Overtime eligible employees who are in pay status for less than 80 hours per month, earn a monthly proportionate to the number of hours in pay status, in the month to that required for full-time employment. Overtime exempt employees who are in pay status for less than 80 hours per month do not earn a monthly accrual of sick leave.

Sick leave accruals for part-time employees will be proportionate to the number of hours in pay status, in the month to that required for full-time employment. Pay status includes hours worked, time on paid leave and paid holiday.

Vacation (Annual Leave)Full-time employees accrue vacation leave at the rates specified in (1) or the applicable collective bargaining agreement (CBA). Full-time employees who are in pay status for less than 80 nonovertime hours in a month do not earn a monthly accrual of vacation leave.

Part-time employees accrue vacation leave hours in accordance with (1) or the applicable collective bargaining agreement (CBA) on a pro rata basis. Vacation leave accrual will be proportionate to the number of hours in pay status, in the month to that required for full-time employment.

Pay status includes hours worked, time on paid leave and paid holiday.

As provided in , an employer may authorize a lump-sum accrual of vacation leave or accelerate the vacation leave accrual rate to support the recruitment and/or retention of a candidate or employee for a Washington Management Service position. Vacation leave accrual rates may only be accelerated using the rates established WAC 357-31-165.

Note:

Most agencies follow the civil service rules covering leave and holidays for

exempt

employees even though there is no requirement for them to do so. However, agencies are required to adhere to the applicable RCWs pertaining holidays and leave.

Military LeaveWashington State supports members of the armed forces with 21 days paid military leave per year.

Bereavement LeaveMost employees whose family member or household member dies, are entitled to three (3) days of paid bereavement leave. In addition, the employer may approve other available leave types for the purpose of bereavement leave.
