JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under the supervision of the Marketing Supervisor, the Student Marketing Assistant II is responsible for working as a member of the marketing team and will work primarily on marketing and promoting events and programs utilizing the department's current social media platforms.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

• Implement marketing strategies with knowledge of major social media applications

• Manage and sustain an online presence through social media

• Cover multiple University Student Union (USU) events on multiple social media platforms, including producing live and recap videos, and documenting with still photos

• Distribute flyers, posters, and banners in designated as well as targeted areas of the USU and campus

• Attend weekly meetings and participate in strategic marketing planning and brainstorming sessions

• Organize, set up, and dismantle marketing booth at various campus locations

• Distribute promotional giveaways and marketing materials

• Assist the Marketing Supervisor, Marketing Coordinator and Marketing Manager in recruiting, hiring and training new employees

• Plan and prepare for various publicity stunts

• Perform basic clerical duties such as filing, typing, answering calls, etc.

• Perform other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

• Must be a currently enrolled CSUN student

• Marketing majors preferred

EXPERIENCE

• Previous related experience and/or specialized education required

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Valid Driver's License and auto insurance

• Must be available to work a minimum of 20/hours/week based on the operational needs and working hours of the department.

SUPERVISION

Supervision is provided by the Marketing Supervisor

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is primarily performed in a temperature-controlled office environment, as well as outdoors in varying weather conditions. Daily contact with members of the campus community, including students, faculty, staff, administrators and guests, is required. In addition to regularly assigned work schedule Monday-Friday, must possess an ability and willingness to work some weekends, academic interim, and break periods as needed; must be flexible, adaptable, and readily able to adjust to changes in work environment.
