And knowing that we have helped make a difference is incredibly fulfilling and inspiring for all of us.The Graphic Designer Principal develops signage and show graphics that help tell the stories in Disney Theme Parks and Resorts worldwide.The Graphic Designer Principal will report to the Executive CreativeDevelopment.**What You Will Do:**+ Develop Graphics scope/program and lead implementation of design intent as a member of the project design team and supports adherence to established project strategies, schedules, and budgets.+ Support Environmental Graphic Design in collaboration with other ED&E disciplines, Creative, Show/Ride, Design & Production and Operating partners.+ Support implementation of project goals/objectives through problem-solving and development of Graphic design solutions.+ Answer questions during sign construction bid process and respond to and resolve field issues and questions.+ Be responsible for environmental graphic design for large or highly complex projects, or such projects that require advanced technical specialty, e.g., sign code requirements, construction knowledge, materials application, and specifications.+ Lead the development of Graphic Signage fabrication and/or manufacturing specifications.+ Hold the primary responsibility for coordination and communication of Graphic design issues with the project lead.+ Support implementation of project goals and objectives through specific problem-solving and development of design solutions.+ Establish Graphic design standards for a project and monitor design team to ensure adherence to department/divisional Standards of Practice.+ Lead development of graphic scope as it relates to code required signage for domestic and international projects.+ Act as the functional leader as noted in the Manager level when needed.+ Lead the day to day technical / creative team by overseeing the development of graphic design including partnering with each designer and providing real time feedback.+ Review, redline and approve all design packages prior to them being sent out for vendor / contractor bid.+ Partner with the functional leader on labor resources, planning and scheduling of all graphic projects.+ Participate and represent WDI Anaheim on all global graphic team meetings including legal signage requirements.**Required Qualifications and Skills:**+ An expert level in understanding of Sign Code requirements.+ Familiarity with BIM standards.+ Proficiency in understanding of wayfinding systems.+ Demonstrated ability/experience with programming Graphic Signage for a wide range of facility types.+ Ability to estimate both labor and production/installation costs for Graphic signage.+ Working understanding of Contract processes.+ Working knowledge/experience with planning a Project Life Cycle.+ A minimum of 12 or more years in practice.+ Thorough knowledge and experience in sign construction materials and products for thematic applications.+ Mature professional judgment in analyzing and solving complex design problems.+ Knowledge of cost and creative value of Graphic signage.+ Demonstrated ability to develop strategies/systems to solve Graphical challenges.+ A minimum of five years leading a team of designers in the design of environmental graphics and signage for a wide variety of facility types.+ Construction phase experience including the submittal/shop drawing review process and on-site field inspections.+ Demonstrated proficiency in planning, budgeting, and leading a team of Environmental Graphic Designers.+ Proficiency in programming for Environmental Graphics for large projects.+ Expert, in-depth knowledge of environmental graphic design and broad expert understanding of fabrication techniques for signs.+ Expertise in analyzing and strategizing approaches to Environmental Graphic Design projects.+ In-depth knowledge of Disney theme park area development history, storytelling, principals, goals, and objectives.+ Ability to produce a reliable sign fabrication and installation estimate based on schematic level design.+ Expertise with signage code requirements including but not limited to Fire, Safety, Health, and ADAG.+ Ability to develop a fabrication and installation estimate based on schematic level design for large and/or complex projects.**Education**+ BA/BS degree from an accredited program required.**Additional Information:**Disney offers a rewards package to help you live your best life. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
