Success in this role is contingent on an in-depth understanding of still media, motion media, and the design process and the ability to complete projects through effective execution of the creative process. Will also be expected to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment to deliver an extremely high level of work. The Visual Effects Designer must be comfortable working with vendors, have a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and technical knowledge.The Visual Effects Designer will report to the Manager-Video Systems Design.This is a casual temporary/seasonal role with no guarantee of weekly working hours, as hours fluctuate based on business needs.**What You Will Do:**+ Participate in a project’s creative development and production phases, including blue-sky brainstorming, project kick-off, scope definition, story-boarding, and pre-production, production, and final deliverables+ Function as the primary compositor/editor for assigned projects+ Create and edit storyboards and animatics+ Create project media design templates+ Drive the media project management workflow for multiple collaborators+ Rotoscope assets as needed+ Accountable for the development of the media budget and maintaining scope costs+ Participate in onsite live programming sessions in collaboration with other disciplines+ Oversee the team’s storage/archival efforts, participating as necessary to interface with other Company technology divisions+ Participate in hybrid and onsite work of media team as required throughout all stages of production+ When necessary, act as a media representative for contracted media companies and vendors ensuring Disney quality, compatibility, and proper documentation of all deliverables+ Partner with the video systems designers, ensuring a smooth transition from production and programming to operation+ Manage the export of media via render management per DLE standards+ Be available to the operating and technical teams for creative and technical input regarding currently running projects and remounts+ Explore new workflow strategies, technologies, and applications for driving and implementing change with an eye on pipeline efficiency+ Partner, at times, with outside resources and/or firms+ Develop and maintain industry connections+ Interact with internal department staff and entertainment leadership regularly+ Interact with the project team's creative leadership, partners, and key stakeholders regularly**Required Qualifications:**+ Current portfolio or website+ 5+ years of experience in media creation/composition, graphic design, or visual storytelling in immersive entertainment, commercial, film, or TV media environments+ 5+ years experience in media production practice and procedures including software applications and show design in a team dynamic+ 5+ years experience utilizing software such as Nuke, Unreal, Cinema 4D, Maya, Adobe Creative Suite, and Resolve+ 2+ years experience in 2D and 3D color management workflow+ 2+ years experience utilizing codecs, formats, and frame rates+ 2+ years experience with production management software such as ShotGrid+ Experience adhering to a strong file naming and folder management collaborative workflow+ Experience utilizing current technology and industry standards for media creation (theatrical, industrial, concert, touring, etc.), as applied to live show and facility systems+ Experience managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines+ Experience managing a creative project from concept to development+ Experience with media production theory and practice+ Strong verbal and written communication skills Experience with Disney Live Entertainment Standards (including Sensitive Information Protocols) and industry standards+ Ability to work flexible hours - nights, weekends, holidays+ Willingness to travel to domestic and foreign venues for extended periods+ Must have, or be willing to obtain, a passport and corporate credit card for travel**Preferred Qualifications**+ Experience with the heritage and culture of The Walt Disney Company (TWDC)+ Experience with Disney Live Entertainment Standards (including Sensitive Information Protocols) and industry standards**Education:**+ Bachelor's Degree in Digital Media, Theater Technology, or 10+ years professional experience _is required_**Additional Information**Benefits and Perks: Disney offers a rewards package to help you live your best life. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
