Position Summary

The University of New Mexico School of Engineering seeks applicants for the position of Communications and Marketing Manager. The Communications and Marketing Manager will report to the dean and work collaboratively with a variety of associate deans, department heads, research center directors, faculty, and staff in the School to accomplish a variety of communications objectives. This role will be responsible for developing both the strategic communications direction for the School of Engineering, as well as implement and/or oversee the tactics to fulfill the strategic marketing communications goals, which will support the School's strategic plan.

The successful candidate will have a passion for storytelling through various means, be an excellent collaborator, prioritize multiple tasks, take a proactive approach to work assignments, and take initiative in anticipation of future needs and events in the School.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:Develop and execute the overall strategic communications and marketing strategy for the School of Engineering in close partnership with and guidance of the leadership team.Ability to develop written, verbal, and multimedia messaging, draft remarks, messages and scripts for various events and audiences.Work closely with the departments to gather information and highlight academic achievements, research, and other initiatives.Work closely with Development staff within the School and at the UNM Foundation to accomplish various communications objectives.For full consideration, please include resume, cover letter, along with two published original writing samples and two samples of other published communications work (including printed marketing pieces, videos, or podcasts).

Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated proficiency in journalistic-style writing and editing, with a strong attention to detail.Demonstrated experience in public relations and marketing, with a passion for storytelling.Ability to communicate via written means with a broad range of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and professionals from various cultural backgrounds.Experience with managing social media platforms and website content.Experience with communicating technical information to a general audience.Knowledge of marketing and communication concepts and strategies; familiar with current trends in marketing and communications.Ability to develop and coordinate written and graphic design materials for public dissemination.Experience working with creative professionals (photographers, videographers, website administrators, graphic designers) in the execution of a project for external audiences.Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud programs (especially InDesign and Photoshop).Experience with managing and executing printed marketing projects (fliers, postcards, magazines, brochures, etc.).Knowledge of university branding standards.
